If by some accident you are pulled of the street tomorrow and the government claims that you are not a citizen and an enemy combatant, and you are tranferred to a prison in Egypt without anyone in your family being notified.
How would you prove your innocence? Please be specific on how you would do this under the new law. How would you contact a lawyer from the Egyptian jail and how would you get access to what you would need to prove that you ARE a US citizen and not a foreign enemy combatant?

It was a mistake, that's the whole point. How do you clear it up?

It has already happened 3 times in our history, Alien and Sedition Act, Espionage Act, Executive Order 9066. Please read a history book all you people that say it won't happen.

All of you say you can prove you are US citizens. Where in the law do you get your chance? Experts cannot find this paragraph, you have?

Were all the people released from guantinamo without charges terrorists? Bush released dozens of dangerous terrorists? I'm trying to understand this "there are no mistakes" mentality.

This is definitely a loaded question but I will answer.
I would present my I.D. and have them do a criminal background check.
The people at Gitmo were terrorists, not POWs. Why have sympathy for them?

You are supposing that Egyptian jails are like American jails, which they are not so there's no way to accurately answer your questions. Unlike the terrorists who have been apprehended, I carry identification that proves my identity. Additionally, my fingerprints are on file with the government from when I served in the Infantry in Viet Nam and from my 21 years as a Law Enforcement Officer and from my attendance at the FBI Academy so I doubt that there would be a problem in confirming my identity. Prisoners at Gitmo DO HAVE A METHOD TO OBTAIN REPRESENTATION AND THEY ARE AFFORDED EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEM.

I would tell them that I am an American citizen. I am requesting that they bring in a person from the American Embassy and that I want an American lawyer before I will say anything further. I will also remind them if they do not do so that this breaks the law. If they have any questions on whether I am an American citizen, they can call the US and request about my birth certificate, where I hold a drivers license for statewise and if I voted regularly.

Let me guess...your not in favor of this new law designed to protect Americans.
Let me ask a question
Democrats: By some accident Democrats are elected into congress and the Presidency and they pass a law to raise your taxes so that they can give your money to those they think deserve it more then you what would you do? Or they pass a law allowing terrorists easy access to our country, the terrorists blow up a building with one of your love ones in it and the Democrats want to try them in a regular court and they get off, what would you do?

Well, for starters, I'm fairly certain that my family left in the states would raise a ruckus. Then I would protest at all opportunities.
Of course, this isn't going to happen since I'm not dumb enough to participate in ANYTHING remotely enemy or combatant like.

I dont live my life in a way that would make the government want to treat me that way. Besides my DL will prove who I am and if it doesnt then it is not my government that has taken me.

They wouldn't. There have been at least a few cases where a middle-eastern guy who WAS a citizen had a similar thing happen. Turns out the guy did nothing wrong- yet they shipped him to Egypt (I think) where he was treated like dirt.
