Does anybody have any suggestions on what to put in a homade haunted house w/ limited space and spending money? We don't want to get too elaborate, but would like it to look good.

There are plenty of household things you can use to make the house. Dark sheets to cover the windows. Make sure it is dark and play scary music. Fog machines are pretty cool and not too much, use two way mirrors with scary pictures in them. Get some caustion tape and make some spider webs. Stuff old scary costumes to look like people. Just look around your house I am sure you can easily find fun things.

Get black material that is used for table clothes and tape it to the walls make sure you cover all the walls and do the smae to door way then purchase black light paint and paint messages and blood splatters ad warning and bloody hand prints over the walls go to the dollar store adn buy a rats and spider webs adn place them strageticlly put a black light which you cna buy cheap and just put it in any lamp or even your over head lights and then alittle mood music which you can always get at the dollar store and there you go instant horror house. And if you have them storbe lights always add to the mood

lighting lighting lighting. Strobes red lights or black lights. Cheap but very effective. those spider web things the cotton ones. They come in a bag for about a buck each. Make stuff look old that way. This is gonna sound weird but try it see how it looks crumple up paper bags to make em look all ragged then spread em out tape em together till you have a good size for background (cover your walls with it) spray it with paint any color dont do it till its covered do it so it looks old and nasty then do your thing with the spider webs...instant setting. think old torn up wallpaper ....like in the horrer movies.
And something about an old creaky rocking chair freaks me out cover it in cobwebs slap a body in it and BAM with the right lighting it could work. You can do the paper bag thing and paint it with dungeon bricks too. Its cheap easy wall covering that can be removed fast with minimal mess.
Happy Hauntings

Don't use real candles, try dim lights. Go to Big lots, they have good halloween decorations for a good price. Tack black sheets to the walls, and then line that with spider web stuff. Paper mache beheaded heads in the corners, or paper mache some skeletons and hang them. Have fun!!

Along the same line as Mya was going, you could peel some of the big round grapes and keep them in a bowl. They'll be quite slimy like eyeballs probably would be.

Strobe lights work well.
Also, use clothes to make it look like a corpse. Sort of!

Have a box with squishy oiled noodles in it with a hole for someone to put their hand in. It can be called "brains" or "worms".
