In the 70s, the scientific community kept telling us that we were entering another ice age and would all freeze to death. I don't get excited over these "dire" warinings anymore. Has man had an effect on the environment? Well, sure - but is it the end of the world? I doubt it.

Because it's not a major issue. If you've done actual research with an unbiased viewpoint you'd have discovered that Global Warming, if indeed real, isn't as important as the environmentalists say it is. Granted there is a scientific consensus that Global Warming may be real, scientists are still divided as to what extent Global Warming may be affecting the world.

And when I say they're divided, I mean that they're not sure whether the climate will rise by a 10th of a degree in Celsius or 3 degrees in Celsius by the end of the century.

"Let me suggest one: the Greenhouse Theory says CO2 will first warm the atmosphere above the Earth. The atmosphere will then overheat the planet by radiating heat from above.

So far, the Earth's surface is warming two or three times faster than the atmosphere. That's a big Mother Nature vote against the Greenhouse Theory" - Dennis Avery, Center for Global Food Issues

So why is there 2 feet of snow in New York when Global Warming is Taking Place? Maybe Global Warming isn't really a big deal.

global warming's cant be real.
in the 70's it was Global Cooling, now it Global Warming. Its a fad.
I mean, Increasing .5 of a degree or whatever? As if all the instruments in all the contries of the world are that accurate!

The only instruments you can completely trust are in really mainly the UK and US. and they've, at best, could only tell you whats the tempurature been for the last hundred years. Although has all that info always been accurate to 1/2 a degree?
With just 100 years of documentation, how can you say the worlds heating and is going to continue doing so forever? It's probably just a flucuation.

Its just being sensationalized. Technically, there is no hole in the ozone layer, theres just a bit of a weak spot. And the fact that man has caused this is just rediculous. Plant produce way more CO2 than man........

Just watch, it'll come and go

Global warming causes the polar ice caps and other normally heavily forzen tracts of land to melt at a greater rate. This does a couple of things. More water is available to be evaporated, meaning that in certain areas of the world, this will increase precipitation. In the winter, this will tend to fall in snow. In the spring and summer, you will see this as more violent storms. Secondly, the ice acts as a mjor reflector of energy from the sun. Decrease the surface area of ice and it means our waters will increase in temperature, resulting in changing weather patterns. This makes weather even more unpredictable. At the same time, other countries such as australia will see less rainfall etc becuase the changing weather pattern is seeing all those wet storm systems heading away from us instead of providing us with much needed rain.

The temperature is not necessarily colder just because you are seeing more snow. Remember snow can fall at temperatures greater than zero degrees celcius. check you average temperatures for winter and you will probably see that while there has been more severe snow falls, the average temp has probably gone up, if only slightly. Though with the changed weather patterns, this is increasing the duration and bringing forward the onset of winter

Global warming is when the ice caps melt and dump cold water into the ocean. This is turn, causes temperatures to drop, not raise! Lower temps, cause more snow etc... Thats the theory anyways.

Because the global warming issue isn'tjust about snow.

The name global warming is misleading. It really means a drastic change in the world's climate everywhere. Some places are experiencing wetter colder weather than usual, while others are experiencing much drier weather than they have in recent years. Look at what is going on in Australia. Farmers are killing themselves out of depression due to droughts there! Very sad!

Global warming equates to more moisture in the atmosphere.

More moisture in the atmosphere equates to more rain and snow.

Global warming causes climate changes; it doesn't mean that everybody's going to get hotter.

global warming doesn't mean we don't have winter at all. rather, it makes the summer hotter and the winter colder.

stay warm! :)
