It's scripted, and over dramatic, the entire fights are choreographed. YES, they do have to do some potentially dangerous stunts, but they are not "real" fights period. there is real life wrestling, then there is TV wrestling, everone knows this.

Everybody knows that wrestling is scripted and if you still believe that it is real then you need a reality check, all wrestling fans know this. I am a huge wrestling fan and it really annoys me when people say "why do you watch it when its fake?" isn't every tv show fake? like desperate housewives, like house, prison break, law and order all of these shows are just there purely for your entertainment!! Wrestlers are the best actors in the world, they put their lives on the line every day for the amusement of all their fans around the world and some even pay the ultimate price to entertain others, their lives! Look at what happened to Owen Hart for example, and Eddie Guerrero.

I think people talk about the physicality of the "sport". Yes, the scripts and outcome of matches are pre-determined. However, the stunts they do aren't "fake" per se. Even if they know how to fall right, they're falling down. Even if they know how to get hit with a chair in the head, they're still getting hit with a chair in the head. I saw a clip from a couple of weeks ago where a guy went through a table and when he got up he had a 6+ inch laceration on his back. You can't "fake" that. I'm not a wrestling fan, but I consider them more like professional stunt men than "wrestlers".

Because some people will never take it for what it actually is, pure, escapist entertainment. We all know that wrestling is scripted but a lot of clowns will never see and understand just how damn hard you have to work to make a living as a pro wrestler. Some pro wrestlers are top notch, elite athletes but will never get the widespread recognition as being so.
Wrestling is a lot like a soap opera and we know that millions upon millions watch that stuff and don't doubt the class and integrity of the people who make and star in the shows. It shouldn't be any diffrent for 'rasslin.

They still argue because everyone has a different definition of "fake". By the legal definition, it is not fake. It is pre-determined, yes, and they are characters, yes, but it ends there. They call out in the match to say what move they're gonna do, so that the other can brace themselves. But they really hit each other, they really get hurt, and they really are athletes.
Trust me on this, my brother is a wrestler and my mom has a lot of wrestler friends.

Pro Wrestling is both Real AND Fake. it's "real" cause of those dangerious stunts and cause its physical. i don't care if it;s scripted or not. Those men and women sacrifice themselves to give us true fans one hell of a good show. And naturally it's fake cause of the fact it's scripted and all the matches and championchip outcomes are pre-determined. Me personally i don't understand why people keep asking this lame and pointless question and just enjoy it for what it is. Fake or Not who cares really ? its entertainment and that is all that metters to me

fake enough, that these wrestlers cant really fight in the real world...though extremely fit (or appearing to be), most are incapable of real fighting.
