I, personally, am a twirler, and had always thought that twirling and slurping were the only two options available. However, my daughter (now 20) has a method by which she carefully selects three or fours strands on her fork, curries them so that they're separate and even, then, holding them on high, she sort of sneaks up on them from the underside. I make it a practice to avoid Italian restaurants when we go out.

Twirler... I used to cut my spaghetti until an Italian called me a Barbarian. She also showed me how to do it.

At a restaurant, I try to follow the rules of etiquette by twirling. At home, I cut it all up into edible portions & then just scoop a fork-full at a time. I discovered this technique because I don't like to get messy & slurping certainly is that.
