All faith schools should be abolished because it is not a school teachers responsibility to teach about religion, This is the parents job if they feel religion is important. All faith schools only encourage segregation and bigotry. Children should mix and learn from all different cultures and then maybe there wouldn't be so much hatred around.

Faith schools should be allowed but only if they are self supporting. Under no circumstances should the taxpayer be funding them. They are divisive in what is now a secular society and should be seen as so. Ideally if parents want to bring their children up in a particular faith they should be taught at home or in the appropriate church, but attend a secular education.

Yes. If our children are to be expected to live in an integrated secular society as adults then they should be educated in a similar environment as children. You can't expect a faith school child to leave school and instantly adjust to an entirely different social structure.

Faith schools are like Muslim veils... a reason (or at least an excuse) for separation and division in our society.

getting into a sectarian argument. For years in Northern Ireland
we had just two schools and everyone seemed to go their own
way happy enough that is until a couple years ago
now we have some groups looking for intergrated schools and to do away with the matained schools.I always though that in education
results were what mattered .It seems everyone is blaming religion on all the social problems when it is politics Lets change our politics and our politicians(at least their minds)

Why might want to you? Is there a particular reason that fogeys might want to no longer be ready to have their children knowledgeable with the youngsters of those who carry a similar beliefs? ::Edit:: ok, I examine 0's link in wikipedia... Is your objection to the non secular segregation, or to the state funding of those colleges? i'm no longer on board for state funded non secular colleges, yet i'm neither a british subject, nor an expert on british regulation. i'm somewhat particular, notwithstanding, provided that the Queen is the top of the Church of england, that there is in truth no seperation of church and state in the U.ok. truly, i might want to easily deliver my children to a non-non secular college, if I were a british subject, and not in any respect difficulty about what the youngsters in different colleges do. As an American citizen, i'm desirous about the existance of privately funded non secular colleges, and positioned that once my step-daughter attended catholic college (at her father's rate and insistance) that she were given a more advantageous training, realized slightly about yet another faith, and in the top nevertheless grew up conveniently pagan. on the finished, i might want to nevertheless ought to stay with my unique opinion (who's it in basic terms hurting?)

No because this is a free country and people should have freedom of choice.

But many non-muslim and white Brits feel that they are being marginalised - so much focus is given to basically keeping Muslims etc happy and nothing really left for the rest of us.

If a muslim woman gets all this media focus and support to allow her to keep wearing a veil then the Christian who was told to take off her crucifix should also get this support. Its an unfair double standard otherwise and one that breeds resentment.

my daughter goes to a catholic school which has 80% muslim and it is totally absurd, we as catholics cannot fund our own school so we have to take a certain percentage of OUTSIDERS and because of the area the school is in it is mostly Muslim and they get first priority as they are within the catchment area, total bullshit as many of my friends are catholic and cant their kids into this school, i could go on forever about this!
