Yes some cell phone plans can be a rip off. I have went without a cell and then I got one. Honestly, I have been caught in a few positions where the cell really saved my ***. On my way to the sitters and my car broke down on the freeway. Or when I broke down in a really bad neighborhood. These guys were harassing me. It was scary, but with my cell I just called the cops. Not to mention they took my father to the ER and they could reach me immediately. It is a luxury, but to some people it is well worth the extra $50 to $100 a month

You are correct! The cell phone industry has the worst record for customer service of any other service type companies in the world.

Although there are a bunch of companies there is basically no competition, they use each others lines and set the phone at different frequencies so they can't supposedly be used by another company.

All in all we pay one hell of a high price for convince with no service.
