The hospital I went to provided everything. I suggest calling your hospital and asking what they provide and what you need to bring.

The hospital should provide formula while you are in the hospital. Check which brand they use. Most hospitals have Infamil or Similac because they get it free from the manufacturers. I breastfed and the hospital gave me at least 2 dozen bottles of formula. The formula bottles are individual bottles and come with disposable nipples, so those are provided by the formula mfg. as well.
With a c-section, you will be in the hospital longer, so bring extra items, like underwear, nightgowns (if you don't want to wear the hospital gowns. However, be forewarned that your nightgowns and underwear may get messy from the incision and from the bleeding after birth. Yes, you will bleed just as you do with a vaginal birth. A robe and good pair of slippers (with non-skid bottoms) are a must because you will have to walk around a bit to help your recovery.
The hospital will keep the baby in a long sleeve onsie and constantly wrap him/her in a blanket. That's about all they need because the nurses are always changing them. However, make sure you have any outfits with you that you want for pictures. You'll also need clothes and blankets for the ride home. Bring a couple extra receiving blankets. The infant carriers/carseats are really too big for newborns, so you'll need them for support. The hospital I was in had staff that taught us how to properly put our baby in the infant carrier.
Also, in case they forget to tell you, no food or drink after midnight the night before your c-section. That includes water.

this is what you need:
a car seat
some always thin overnight pads (they work so much better than the ones the hospital will provide)
a comfy nightie
a phone list of people you want to be notified
some maternity clothes for you to wear home
soemthing for the baby to wear home
baby socks
the hospital will supply a pacifier, bottles, formula, diapers, wipes, and those little nightie things for the baby, receiving blankets (which you probably won't be able to bring home due to security concerns), a rocker if you need one, and huge monster pads that won't do very well for you.
do not waste your money on formula. if the doctor picks a different brand than the one you want to use, you may not be able to return it. i'd wait on diapers too, until you have your last ultra sound. you don't know how big the baby will be. my cousin had hers and he was in a one. not a newborn.
good luck. and congratulations. you're making a miracle.

Con grads. I just had a baby 3 months ago. All you need for the baby is:
outfit to come home in
t-shirt
socks
hat/mittens
blanket
nipple
The hospital will supply you with a little bit of formula and diapers. But have your own supply at the house. I also had a c-section and I forgot how bad it hurted. Until the staples come out you will be in a bit of pain. Don't try to do things like me. You will suffer. Let family do it all.
For milk you should try WIC. Diapers should be purchased in bulk depending on how fast your baby is growing. My baby started off with newborn for about 3 weeks then we put her on 1 by two months she was in 1-2 and now she is straight 2.
Again con grads and just listen to all the advise it doesn't mean you have to act on it. My baby is 3 months and she is eating food even thought he books say no. Do what you feel is best.

My wife had a c-section last month. I did took everything, but never need to open the bag except for my dress. The hospital provided everything for my wife and the baby. Formula, Diaper, food for my wife etc.. The Nurses even gave hot towels for my wife during her labor. If you have not taken the Hospital tour you can take it. You will know what to expect during the Lab our and Child Birth etc...
It is better to ask the hospital, if they provide.
All the best and congratulations

The hospital should provide diapers, formula, and nipples for the formula. They come in a ready to serve bottle. I do recommend thaking your own wipes because they just give you these napkins like things for wipes. They will even give you a paci for the baby if you ask. To make sure your hospital will provide all these things you an call the nurse's station in the recovery / nursery floor. Good luck and congradulations!

I first want to say congrats and good luck. you must be so excited and nervous at the same time. One week till you get to hold your baby in your arms! Your hospital most likely will give you diapers and bottles. I would bring a receiving blanket, your baby book (for the foot prints),a hat and a warm outfit (or two) for the baby to wear home. You don't need wipes, diapers or bottles. most (like 98%) of hospitals provide those. Again congrats and best luck!

don't count on the hospital to provide anything, they may not. make sure you've got the car seat already set up in the car beforehand. make sure his/her going home outfit is weather appropriate (it's a good idea to have a cap too). always keep a box of baby wipes EVERYWHERE (in the car, diaperbag, stroller, ect) and a few spare receiving blankets handy, because babies spit up a lot. keep at least 3 bottles in the diaper bag, just in case (best thing is to prefill the bottles with water and get a formula divider to put in the diaper bag, so you won't have the big can taking up so much room.) best of luck!

Different hospitals will have different things. Our hospital had diapers, wipes, thermometers, a nasal aspirator, a hat, tissues, vaseline, baby soap, and a few other odds and ends. I breastfed so I don't know what they would have offered by way of bottles and formula. It's probably best to call your hospital and find out what they offer.
