Certainly, he is still greatly missed & talked about among my group of friends. I don't know anyone that has been to L.A. that didn't want to stand out in front of the Viper Room for a moment of silence.

I have been a River Phoenix fan for 20 years. IMO, there is not one current actor has as much raw talent as he did! I remember when I found out about his death and how it really touched me as a chapter closed on my childhood (I was 20). To this day, his image stills haunts me. He was what James Dean meant to the previous generation.

River Phoenix will live on in spirit forever.

What's a River Phoenix? Just kidding probably his brother and the rest of his family still care very much.

Absolutely!
It's not like he's on my mind every day, but I care.
I think he was very talented and would have become a one of the greats today.
Sadly, it was not meant to be.
And I'm sure his family cares that he is gone--especially his mom.
You never get over the death of a child, no matter how they died or at what age they are taken from you.
That pain will always be with her regardless of how much time has passed.

I still care... the movie Stand By Me is one of my all-time favorites. In fact, when I went to LA a couple of years ago I made sure to make a visit to the Viper Club in LA where he died. There was still a small fan-erected shrine in front with candles and pictures and such.

Weather I knew who he was or not, I care.
He has a family, and friends out there crying for him, if it matters to them, it matters to me.
It's sad that if it doesn't affect a person, then they don't care, but all of asuddon when said person has someone close to THEM die, all of a sudden the world comes to a hult.
Can't anyone show respect!? The man died, you don't have to completely come to a hault, but it would be nice if you at least REPECTED his family.

I remember when they announced his death at the Viper Room. I was almost 14, and it he was the first of alot of actors and actresses I have like that was taken way before their time.

Yes. A waste of potential. Essentially, a meaningless death. Only good: a cautionary tale.

Yeah. He was a very talented young man- who knows what he would have been able to accomplish...

And to the poster above, that was his brother, Joaquin.
