I recently read an article that stated that there is now a link between breastfeeding and conceiving twins. They say that you are more likely to release two eggs during ovulation if you're breastfeeding. Has anyone else heard of this connection?? I have twins that run on my mothers side of the family like crazy, plus I'm still breastfeeding my daughter....therefore I'm curious if now the risks are even higher that I'd end up pregnant with twins.

I have never heard that... I have fraternal twins and the research I did hear about was that identical twins don't necessarily run in familes....that it's just a fluke that the egg splits but fraternal twins do run in the family - because you must release 2 seperate eggs to get them. I also heard you are more likely to release more than one egg when you just come off birth control pills while your body regulates itself again..........I think that was how I got my twins.

Thats an odd finding, considering that some people use breastfeeding as a birth control method....albeit a bad method.
I've read that breastfeeding women may not start ovulating as soon after birth as women who don't breastfeed.

i would read research articles on the internet or go check out some books on twins... ...please dont leave it up to the yahoo world... ...but, from what i hear, the twin population is growing due to an increase in steroid take from mothers in the foods they eat and an increase in fertility drugs
