What makes a true American in relation to my question.

Are you speaking of Imperialism in our country? Correlating the Republican dominated Congressional houses and presidency as such? Or Imperialism in general?
*How did I get a thumbs down when asking for a little clarification?
Well fine then...I think that no matter where you stand on this question the answer will always be hypocritical...America is supposed to be a "free and tolerant" land that allows beliefs of all kinds within its borders...on the other hand Imperialism stands against the beliefs this country was founded upon... Then again many of our actions as a country "spreading democracy throughout the world" have been, by definition, Imperialistic...
I would say your question has no satisfactory answer.

A true American is a citizen who does his/her part to help "We the People" keep the United States at peace and free.

Imperialism = perpetual war.

Do most Americans even KNOW how many military bases the US has all over the world? The last I read it was Seven Hundred Twenty Five in 38 countries. Would there be so many wars if the superpowers would stop getting involved in (i.e. supplying deadly weaponry, and thus escalating) local conflicts? Of course not.

Some might say imperialism is the American way. We've certainly engaged in our share (especially lately). Like allot of issues this one's been polarized. Either your an imperialist or your an isolationist. Myself, I'd like to see America tax it's rich heavily and use the money for humanitarian aid, education and other truly stabilizing efforts in countries (and this is key) where the people want our help. Scrap the military presence. It doesn't help.

Well, the times they are a changing.
Historically speaking Americans would not be imperialists. But nowadays???? They think they must act as some sort of policeman to the world, You can only control your surroundings if you have the power. So now true Americans might very well be Imperialists. Alas!

well, considering that America was imperialized a bit before a little thing called...oh, what was it? right, the American Revolution! anyway, we fought against that, so why would we want to imperialize other countries?

If we let the con-jobs get away with the hijacking of America, then yes, it's inevitable; it'll be re-written into the "definition."

Humanist, huh?

1 - Apparently so, right?

2 - Not a "question" (and not a question, either).
