Sure, we have laws to protect the worker but everyone is so afraid of losing their security or being harassed on the job that very little is actually done to make the workplace better.
If a Dr. Pepper employee brings a Coke to work he is in danger of being fired on the spot.
If your boss screams, cusses and throws tantrums...sure you can complain about it but the big boss isn't going to do anything about it and the other employees who are also suffering from the same kine of abuse won't stand by you because they are too chickenshit.
When will we wake up?

Never. America is dominated right now by the big international corporations. They do not care about employees. All they want is more money. People are seen as slaves and they are treated like this. Can one man fight against corporations. NO. Can a union, a group of strong people fight against them? Maybe.

That is why there are unions such as the Teamsters. They work to help the employees by standing behind them and with them when unfair working conditions are being demanded by their employers. Though there are some unions that may be questionable in their dealings; however I know for a fact that the Teamsters do stand to help protect employees, as I know of someone who has personally benefited from the work that they do.

Wow...you must work someplace special!

NO ONE where I work would put up with a boss screaming, cussing, or throwing a tantrum. Not only is it childish, but so incredibly unprofessional, that they would be walked to the door by HR immediately.

Sounds like you are having a nice day. I guess the power is with the boss, however, if employees stand together there is power in numbers...Good Luck...

Boo Hoo. I'm crying a river of tears for you.
When will America wake up and stop putting up with all the whiners and excuse makers in America?
Is there a chain attached to your ankle forcing you to stay? Didn't think so. Way to exaggerate what is going on.

well, i stood up for myself here at work. i'm 24, first office job, but i take my work seriously. at 16 i was offered a mangers job, at my first job ever, and my other part time job has been going on for 7 years now. i work hard and i deserve respect. well, at this job, part of it is to run ads for the real esate agents. this one woman nancy is a *****. i mean she is just nasty to people. one day, i walk in the door and she just starts screaming at me, i didnt even get out of the door way and she's attacking me!!! the proof for the ad had come over and the photo wasnt in it. its the proof. it doesnt go to production for another 3 days, and she's flipping out. so i flat out told her she had no right to attack me like that, walked over to my desk, called my manager and the VP of the company, then sent HR an email and CC'ed her on it. with in 15 minutes HR had responded. since then, people in the office respect me for standing up to her and they know that i know my job and i take it seriously and there hasnt been another incident since from that woman. infact, she almost daily asks me to help her with something.

at my other job, which happens to be a resturaunt and all hispanics, this one guy in the kitchen was whistling at me, over and over and just wouldnt stop. i dont speak spanish and just kept telling him to stop and he wouldnt. i spoke with my boss and he talked to him, but it didnt stop. then one day that guy came up and touched the logo on our shirts, which happens to be over my breast. so i punched him, walked right up to the manager and told him if it doesnt stop right now, i'm walking out and would be pressing charges against the guy, and i had a feeling he was illigal, most of the guys there are, so that would cause major problems for the resturaunt. i love the owner like a father, but i cant be working in a place where that allow guys to just go up and touch boobs. next day, the guy was fired. i'm still there 5 years or so later.

but i do know what you're talking about. one of the girls i work with there had a problem with another one of the hispanic guys. he somehow got her cell phone number, was calling her, touching her back, would button the top button on her shirt (which we all dont button cause its not comfortable) and would also ask her personal questions about her love life, financing, things he shouldnt be asking. she brought her father in the talk to the boss, they said they would take care of it, nothing was done, nothing was said to the guy and it just continued. so she quit. she felt she had no other choice and thats just wrong. she shouldnt have felt like she had to leave just because she felt violated by that guy.
