Sheep have a full fleece the first winter after the spring that thry are born. that fleece isn't clipped until the following summer, about June time. So a lamb born in March this year will be about 15 or 16 months old.

Hmmm . . . didn't realize they grew it improperly.
On Saturday, October 7th we sheared a lamb born this spring. His hair was soft, fine and perfect. It will be carded and spun this winter.
