you have a two part question first it changed in a negative way when it lost it's roots it no longer was for pride it became for money, in a positive way after the cross over phase rap became a house hold name and some kids who otherwise would not have had a chance for a better life got one but don't let that be your only way make sure you get all the education you can, i am a road agent for a very know rap group and i have a masters in business.

I think the Dancing styles have changed and developed into some very progressive styles and not just stayed with acrobatics.

It's been mostly run by executives in suits who don't care about the music, only the money. So, I would say, it's more about the money now.
