Two choices for the head of production dept.:

1. Report this situation to the higher authorites in the company.

and/or

2. Start looking for another job in another company. Head of P.D. has integrity, honesty and a great resume on his/her side. Another company would welcome a person like that on their team.

1. His motivation could be his nature.
2. Mr.X continuing to be social is his personal, Its one's own way of being and behaving to others, I guess its so with DGM as well when i try understanding your message.

3. As a Production manager it'll be my duty to understand the in and out of not just what's going on but what would happen in 6 months from now(minimum) which Mr.X is doing it in a tactic way. As a P Mgr i need to make sure there is absolutely no disturbance to my schedule and targets, what could you do here is to have a good understanding of your supervisor talk to him and appreciate him in his work and his people relations, this will slowly earn you a edge over him. (i do understand your pain of he taking over you-which may not be the case as well) but at least by encouraging him in his work (which is showcased) will make others feel that you are the real motivator of the overall scene in the Organisation.

Good Luck

1 Mr.X is a smart man and wants to get ahead in his field.
2 It is none of your business who DGM socializes with.
3 I would pull up my socks as it sounds as if you are a very poor production manager.
4 You should try and further your education because your spelling and grammar is terrible.

Reading your letter leaves me wondering about the quality of your work. This particular question reflects on you, and, with this being a business "forum", I have to wonder if you take shortcuts with your job.

So, you saved yourself 43 keystrokes by my count, but more importantly, project yourself, at least to me, as a slacker.

As an employer, I wouldn't give you a second glance.

Good Luck

it's quite clear to me that your supervisor will be privy to all relevant information to his department before the staff. If you want to get on then please work with him. As the saying goes stay close to your friends but closer to your enemies.

well, if mr x is your supervisor, then there isnt much you CAN do. he is your superior. if there is an HR department, you can go talk to them about it, and see if there are out of line discussing your department
