I like to think I have a pretty high tolerance, heck, I wasn't even much phased by the movie about a fictionalized assassination of President Bush, but you have people asking about endangering the Pope, and if you would kill Bin Laden or Bush if you could, or if you'd save his life, though that one is often done in the black humor style with the camera man scenario.
Also offensive is how nearly everyone either makes a dubious moral equivalency, or out right says they have no issue with letting a fellow human being die.
Am I missing the boat or something, or have people become jaded? Hateful?
I don't mind that the questions are answered, but why not say speak against the questions in your answers?

BoxerMan, people that have as low a reading comprehension as you should think twice about calling others a twit. I never said they were the same.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have often said Why hasn't someone...or I'm amazed that someone hasn't assinated ____(insert jerk of the day)...I needed reminding that we create our own reality with our thoughts. I personally don't believe in killing (but I think euthanasia is ok if it's a terminal & agonizing case) And I think people sentenced to life in prison should have the option of euthanasia, and a death sentence makes "us" just as bad as the murderer.
Why do we make kill references so cassually? Probably because of TV, video games, movies & the news all are so violent that we start using these expressions of "final retaliation" lightly. We forget what we speak perpetuates & creates more violence & hatered. In my humble opinion.

Could it be that all these hypothetical killings are bred in the minds of would-be fiction authors who, failing the ability to produce the Great American Novel, set their sights slightly lower and turn their diabolical musings into second- or third-rate Yahoo! Questions?

We're living in the video game age. People minds have dulled to the fact that once they kill, that life is over for good. How selfish we've become. It's all about looking out for Number One, and nobody cares about their neighbor any more, unless it's to use them as target practice.

It has been my experience that people say and "do" things on the internet that they would never ever do in real life. I at least hope this is why they say they would kill the president.
As an aside, if they are serious, that could be treason you know.

I think that people who want to kill have something different in their brains. I don't like the president, I don't like Bin Laden, etc. but I wouldn't kill them!

No I don't think I could kill anyone. If someone hurt my child then I know I would be mad and hurt enough to kill, but other then that I couldn't do it.
