From the AP Wire:

Presidential spokesman Tony Snow said a suggestion to divide Iraq into Sunni, Shiite and Kurdish regions, each with high degrees of autonomy, was a "nonstarter."

Why is the White House telling the Iraqi government what they can and cannot do?

Hate the government, not the country! Sheesh.
Yes, the Iraqis should be able to decide.
The White House is telling the Iraqi gvt. what they can and cannot do because they have oil.

It's not a "nonstarter" from our perspective. America would love to have them do a three-way split on the country. The Sunnis aren't too hot on the idea because the land they would get doesn't have the oil. They're worried that the other regions would end up with all the money.

Puh-leez...the Iraqis should have ASKED for our help before we occupied thier land. I could have sworn the repukelican Presidential nominee of 2000 claimed that he wouldn't use the US Military for "nation building". Democraps, while avoiding Iraq, would have still lined their own pockets all in the name of a pseudo-War on Terror.

Because instead of doing what's right we are bending to international pressure. The Turks don't want a Kurdish state on their border.

The Sunni's had be running things so they don't want the Shite running things anywhere.

Of course the Iraqi's should decide. But Americans think they rule the world, so they have to step in and ruin other countries more than their own.

All they're doing in Iraq at the moment is killing innocent civilians...they're not achieving anything. The Iraqi's don't want them there, and it should be up to each country to worry about their own sh*t unless they ASK for help.

Hey, when you was in school, didn't the bigger kids pick on the little kids???
That is what is happening in the world too. Yes, the Iraquis should be able to do what they want, even if it is to kill themselves off. That is their country, it does not belong the the United States or the British Kingdom, it belongs to the Iraquis

Well, considering the White House is full of right wing reactionaries and corporate apologists, nothing else is expected. Lets just hope for the sake of humanity that they are voted out in two years.

Yes, you're right, they should be able to decide. However there are more allied troops over there than armed Iraqi's and so the Americans (and their puppets the UK) feel they can walk all over the Iraqi people with thier Jackboots.

Well, they can't decide, because they can't seem to be able to get along, now can they?? Do you give a bunch of first graders a vote on the presidency?? Oh...wait, they did 2 & 6 years ago...never mind....

American knows what is best for the rest of the world. We shall decide for all people. Any attempt to disagree with our ways of thinking is considered acts of terrorism. The world shall summit to our freedom.

WE SHALL FORCE YOU TO SUMMIT......

OUR WILL SHALL BE DONE.
