How much time do you have for the assignment. If you are daytrading you have to watch your stock like a hawk, In all likelihood your teacher put a $5.00 minimum on things, it makes it difficult to purchase based on fundamentals.

For my longterm holds I buy stocks mid-month as the market seems to fluctuate in cyclical patterns. The stocks I am interested in buying go down in price midmonth.

Buy stocks over time requires buying a little at a premiums and watching your purchase prices slide, when you purchase stocks over time, if you've picked a good one, hang in for the long haul.

Two of my long term buy and holds are EGO and RTK.

EGO is a gold mining company, They have a solid business and Gold is a good product to have in a long term portfolio.

RTK is a company that produces equipment to retrofit refineries to allow the conversion of Coal to Oil or Gas to Oil. The potential of this company is amazing. As the US has the largest amount of Coal any where in the world we could have enough energy to drive our economy just from coal for several hundred years.

RTK is sistering with a Coal Producer in Wyoming to begin such a project.

Okay, here's what you do. Watch the TV show "Mad Money" on CNBC every night. Buy whatever stocks the guy strongly recommends, hold them for a week, and then sell. Keep watching and keep buying and selling. Just the fact that he recommends a stock sometimes lifts its price the next day. Good luck.
