I am sort of in the same boat. I quit drinking 2 years ago and I don't hang out with any "friends" anymore as most of them were drinking buddies.. Now I am pretty much alone, as I haven't found anyone that enjoys things without drinking.(I do live in a small town). I decided to go back to college and get an associates degree, and I have recently quit smoking. So I am bettering myself no matter if I do anything or not. But at the same time, I am wanting to have some interaction with people and I am finding out that is the hardest part; finding some group to hang out with that doesn't drink or smoke. So now I am coming to that point that I don't have an answer for you right now;I am a Christian, but I am not into organized religion. So I don't go there myself. I went to AA in the beginning, but after everynight for 4 months or so, I became burned out and now I am needing to find that other thing to do in my life as well. I do continue to get the education, online that is, but maybe I need to go to the campus for classes as well. Still I wouldn't have much to do in a social setting though, so I am back to wondering about what to do for now. Well, I hope you at least know now that there are others out here in the same boat as you and you are not alone on this.. I hope this is at least a relief for you, good luck and God bless.

Why not invest that money you'll be saving and take a self improvement class in the evenings, or a class to learn a new hobby and perhaps there will be others your own age doing the same... you could also join a health club and start working out--maybe a tai chi class or something like that could make you feel more grounded and improve your outlook as far as spiritual and personal development go! It will also help you in that you'll be learning about your own body and may even help with any cravings of alcohol you might get! Good Luck!

Join a sport.
Go to the library and catch up on your reading.
Find the local chamber of commerce and get all the bruchers for all the silly things that go on around your town that you are probably not even aware of.
What ever you do, don't go into the clubs right away, it will be too tempting to have that drink
congrats and good luck

good for you. that takes alot of self discipline. whem my cousin quit he took up tae kwon do. but i think that if you quit drinking all together, then you are a strong enough person to go out clubbing with your friends and resist the temptation. try having a coke instead.

Do as I do and did. Go out with your friends and have fun. By the way I an 62 and do not drink. I can be just as crazy and have just as much fun as them and drink my "straight" coke.

How is this a problem? What did you do before u quit drinking? Obviously u have a bit more cash now so I cant see what the problem is? Start drinkning again and go to AA meetings... It's free, sometimes they have food there.
