My wife recently was in the same situation. She got an
MHA (Master of Health Administration), only to find out that
employers were more interested in an MBA, even if she was
going for a Healthcare related field. You can take electives
in Public Administration and will probably be better off than
getting an MPA. It also leaves more options open, as fewer
people will recognize the MPA if you decide to leave public life.

An MBA cab be used anywhere, healthcare, government, industry
An MPA is ideal for non profit, ,city governments
The MPA is easier to get and less expensive

MBA,
it is not too difficult to achieve, most grad schools have them at 30-45 credits. It is also more recognized then any other degree because it builds you for leadership roles.
