It seems that a lot of people think that way but I never believe the polls. I think most of them are a bit biased to say the least. Unfortunately there are some who have jumped on the bash Bush band wagon just for the sake of jumping. They are mostly young kids are getting indoctrinated by left leaning teachers. I just hope sometime in their lives they decide to start thinking for themselves. War is always tough all wars that we've had have been protested. But never before has the Democratic party (now run by far left leaders) been so relentless in the goal to regain power and since they wouldn't stand a chance winning by debating the issues they have turned to hate speech and even to leaking military secrets to their buddies in the media (one is the New Yourk Times). To give our enemy motivation by listening to these people is shamful. Calling Bush worse than Hitler etc etc. And the way they have gone off on the Foley thing gives a whole new meaning to the word hypocrite. I'm not too happy with the republicans either they seem to have lost their conservative values on a number of things. But their is one thing that trumps them all for me voting Republican and hoping the ones who say they arn't going to vote change their minds. And that is the Republicans are much better at fighting terrorism and are not ashamed of our military and our country. If we leave it to the libs we better start learning Arabic and a taste for Donkey burgers cooked over camel chips if they allow us to live.

I'll give you a dozen reasons:
1) The economy only looks good when compared to 2003. If you compare it to 2000, real wages are lower, the Dow has recovered but gone no higher, Federal reneues have not increased when adjusted for inflation, and the national debt is double. We're all smart enough to know that Bush bought this recovery with money borrowed from our children and grandchildren.
2) We still don't have Osama bin Laden in custody, five years later. And the Taliban is making a comeback in Afghanistan.
3) Everyone now knows that Iraq did not have WMDs, and that the whole war and all the lives lost did not need to occur.
4) That pointless war is going to go on for years if we continue with GOP rule.
5) The DNC was set to take the House long before the Foley scandal. That will be a footnote to this election, not a real issue.
6) The USA has lost the respect, support, and good will of most of the international community.
7) People oppose the trashing of the Constitution, wiretapping without warrants, and suspending habeus corpus.
8) Many Republican voters are turning against the GOP because they are not being fiscally conservative, they are allowing billion$ in earmark spending, and they have done nothing to try to limit abortion or gay marriage, two of the most important issues for conservative Christians. They may not vote for a Democrat, but they not vote at all.
9) Jack Abramoff.
10) Oil companies with record billion-dollar profits during a time when consumers were paying high gas prices.
11) Hurricane Katrina Relief (or lack thereof).
12) Tom DeLay.

The economy is doing well? We have a deficit of $300 billion dollars - is that your definition of a strong economy? We didn't have that when Clinton was in office. More people own homes now but foreclosures are expected to be at an all time high when the arm's expire. The country has withstood any further attacks since 9/11 - yeah that is true, but w also started a war and pissed off the Iranians, Palestinians, N Koreans, Syrians and Europe in the process. Foley, Doolittle ( in California ) Hastert, Cheney and Rumsfeld. So maybe those rose colored glasses are out of focus.

More people own their homes because of the lowered interest rates yet the cost of a home is average 250,000 to 300,000. For most people they sign off on adjustable rate loans having no idea what that contract means. Five years down the line they are scrambling to make the baloon payment.
Employment is good where...Walmart, Kmart, low income jobs?
When was the last time a city worker got a pay raise?
Foley is not the only thing. That is just a small part that planted the seed of doubt.
Iraq is the major issue. Seeing the rise of Americans being killed everyday is an issue. Rumors of more war with Iran and N. Korea...another reason.

The economy is not all that strong - the stock market is just now making it back to 2000 levels, and the gap between the rich and poor is growing every day. Unemployment is not at an all-time low. I have no idea where you heard that, but it is not true. "The country has withstood any further attacks after 9/11." -- um, what?
There is not much to be proud of in the past 6 years. The rich have gotten richer, while health care and fuel costs have caused the living expenses of most average Americans to skyrocket. We started a war in a very unstable region of the world with a country that posed absolutly no threat to us - while we allowed North Korea (and possibly Iran) to develope nuclear weapons. There has been a round of tax cuts every year that mostly benefited the ultra-rich and corporations... We gave away hundreds of billions in tax dollars to oil companies at the same time that they were making billions IN PROFIT. Our government decided to start spying on us, and decided that torture is an acceptable form of interrogation....
I could go on and on... The Republicans are in trouble because their policies are disgusting to most Americans. Their fate is sealed by the curruption of people like Tom Delay, Bob Ney, Duke Cunningham, and Jack Abramhoff. The fact that they had a pedophile writing a law that was supposed to PROTECT minors from those kinds of things is almost hilarious - if it wasn't so pathetic and sad.
Republicans will lose because of these things:
- they have only created MORE terrorists since 9/11
- they have shown they only care about rich people
- they have done nothing to ease the cost of health care
- they started a war that we can't get away from, but can't really win
- the economy is not helping the average American
- they have not done a single thing in the past 12 years to help the middle class
- their views on social issues are extreme and divisive (gay marriage ban in the constitution? ban all abortions? most americans are against these things)...
I'm tired of writing so I'll stop... but I could go on and on.

People with common sense realize that the Republicans are doing so poorly because of the following reasons. Our nation has the highest national debt in history. We have an enormous trade deficit because the interests of big corporations takes presidence in the fairy tale world called Republica. Repubs have had 6 years to do something about illegal immigration and secure our borders, yet they admit that Hezbollah (sp) have infiltrated our country via the Mexican border and illegals are running rampid here. While unemployment may be low, the quality of the jobs taken by us is lower and so is the pay. Millions of us have no access to affordable health care while illegal aliens pop out babies at $20K apiece while our tax dollars foot the bill and Spanish rapidly becomes our second language. More children are being left behind than before Bush was elected. The true wedge issue here is not the fact that the house speaker Hastert has been covering up for a child molester. It's the fact that nearly 2800 of our soldiers are still coming home in caskets years after Bush declared Iraq a mission accomplished. Gee, what could possibly make a Republican decide not to vote for the party who promised everything and yet delivered nothing to those ignorant hillbillies who voted him in because he claimed to be homophobic, white and christian? Well, 2 outta 3 ain't bad, but I think Jesus himself would vote this administration out of office and start over. Then again, I can't speak for Jesus, only Bush has the power to do that.

Frank ... Huh? Never mind, no point in arguing this from your perspective. Let me put it to you this way. Issues have less to do with it them perceptions of balance. The GOP has been running the nation for a solid six years. You say they have done well. Many don't agree. That shadow of doubt is sufficient to make people pause and wounder. That is just the opinion polls, however, the real poll that matters is in November. We will see what happens then.

Well lets see, we have lost numerous civil liberties. We are fighting a false war in Iraq. The Military Commissions Act has pretty much opened the door for are government to arrest people for no reason. Thus nullifying our civil liberties. Alot more just dont have the time to keep goin at work.
