The BabyCentre webpage suggests 8-months and explains why yogurt is okay:
"If you're wondering why yogurt gets the okay ahead of milk -- which you should hold off on introducing until your child's 1 year old -- it's because the active bacterial cultures found in yogurt (such as thermophilus and bulgaricus) make yogurt easier to digest than cow's milk. "
My 10 1/2 month old daughter is breastfed and has been eating yogurt for a couple months. I get her the Dannon L'il Ones because they are made with whole milk and are sweetened with juice instead of sugar. She loves them!!
As with any other new foods you introduce follow the 3 day allergy rule. Start with a small portion (don't overwhelm him with a whole container) and don't introduce anything else new during this period. Watch for signs of allergy or digestive problems... My daughter seemed to get a bit of a very mild diaper rash for the first couple days, but then she was fine.
If you're worried maybe even double up the 3 days on this one... I think we waited 5 days before introducing anything else new.
Good luck!

My daughter is 10 months old and she has been eating yogurt and pudding now for about 4-5 months and she loves it. She has not had any problems with it. I would go head and give your little man some yogurt now.

I did what I felt was right for my children. With the first two (twins) I was at home with my mom and she advise me not to listen to the doctors advise about feeding your baby. My girls began eating around 2 1/2 months(cereal). We gave them a small amount of table food around 4 months like eggs and grits. By eight months they were eating beans (mashed up), and baby food. I started milk at 11 months.
Even know with my new baby I gave her a little bit of formula at 1 month and more at 2, She is not eating baby food in the evening. When she turn 4 month next week She will have it twice a day so she can can get use to eating more. By 5 months she will have it three times a day.
Bottom line its up to you. Doctors don't know everything. Give the baby a little and see how he reacts you never know he might eat the whole thing.

Yes, it's best to use yogurt w/whole milk in it and not a lot of sugar. YoBaby organic yogurt made by Stony Farms is a good choice.

At his age, he can tolerate milk by now. Yogurt is safe and a good treat. Just start him off slowly as with any new food.

Yes, I have been giving my twins YoBaby Yogurt, while drinking formula milk, since they were 9 months old. It is just added nutrients and my twins love it..
My doctor had suggested giving them YoBaby just to let you know. It was not my idea... :-)

go for it! if you're really worried, you can pay the extra money for the special go-baby yogurts (less sugar and easier for little tummies to digest?). and just watch out for constipation from dairy products - go slow! a friend of mine used lactose free dairy prodcuts for her little girl becuase she was horribly constipated when she drank regular milk or ate regular yogurts.

Good grief, I started giving my kids yogurt as soon as they mastered cereal. It's not the same as milk, it's easier to digest because of the enzymes. Go ahead and give it to him!
