I know everyone will say GO TO THE ER and GO TO MY DR. WEll I'v been 4 times in the last week. They can't stop the leaking. They have taken me off work and put me on bed rest and will be re-checking in an ultrasound every week. My next appointment is next Tuesday. That's ALL they can or will do.

Yes it may be possible, the amniotic sac does reseal, it all depends on where the leak is, what is causing it etc. Also are you 100% sure what you are leaking is amniotic fluid? It is sometimes difficult to tell.

There is nothing you can do for this, which makes it a very frustrating. Make sure you are drink a lot of water, that will help you replenish the fluid without dehydrating.

I just want to add that the previous poster who said the baby 'breathes' amniotic fluid is incorrect. While the baby does exhibit some breathing like motions in utero, the oxygen which sustains the baby is delivered via the placenta/umbilical cord. So in theory the baby would still be oxygenated if there was no amniotic fluid. Also the placenta detaching has nothing to do with the amniotic fluid leaking either.

Stay on bed rest, drink plenty of fluids and try not to make yourself crazy with worry. I hope this resolves soon.

If you are leaking amniotic fluid, they are concerned that your placenta is separating, therefore the bed rest. You should listen to your MD and pray to get to at least 28 weeks. Will you have a f/t pregnancy?? It depends on if the leaking can be controlled by bed rest. GOOD LUCK!

i hate to scare you, but amniotic fluid is what your baby "breathes". if it all leaks out, you will have to have the baby. unfortunately babies born at 18 weeks have a verly low chance of surviving.
so what your doctor is doing is trying to keep the fluid in you so your baby can develop as long as possible in a safe environment.
