Five players including Gordie Drillon the Leafs star player were benched after game 3 and all were traded after.
They were betting against themslves or paid to lay down or both.
It was said that it was all a coincidence but it always smelled to me like an attempted black sox scandal was thwarted and then covered up.
Anyboby have any information on this?
It was 1947 or there abouts.

The only teams that ever came back from 3-0 to win a 7 game series were the 1942 Leafs, the 1975 Penguins and the 2004 Red Sox

wrong section but it was 1942....I have never heard anything about that and in reading about the series in a book about the Red WIngs history it was never mentioned. Maybe the NHL is trying to keep that quiet, but I could find no mention of a betting scandal anywhere I looked. The only mention of any kind of gambling scandal I could find was one involving Don Gallinger of the Boston Bruins who was banned for life in 1948.
