Let me add, we have the mid-term elections coming up.

We've been hornswoggled into believing that gasoline prices are a result of "market conditions". Yet, just before the mid-term elections, gasoline prices suddenly drop.
Suddenly, prices don't fluctuate from day-to-day, or even from hour-to-hour anymore. Still, there's a 'war' going on in Iraq and people are still driving their $60,000 gas-guzzling SUVs.
Here's my 'take' on things:
The Republicans will try to claim credit for the decrease in gasoline prices.
If the Republicans win control of Congress in November, you'll see gasoline prices SOAR (perhaps to more than $4.00-per-gallon by January or February, 2007) as part of the GOP deal with the oil companies: you keep prices low until November and we'll let you rape and pillage to restore your profits in January and February.
It's the same kind of deal Ronald Reagan made with Iran when it agreed to free the 444 American hostages as Reagan delivered his inaugural address. -RKO-

Appears some people need to educate themselves on who controls the prices on the gas market. The oil companies have not been nationalized, to my knowledge. That way the government would be able to control the prices. The competition among the oil companies does not leave a lot of room for price variation.

The government doesn't do too many things well. The idea that they could conspire to set the gas price at every station in the country is rediculous!
