My computer has been bombarded with adware and spyware. I have AVG (the free version) which detects 3-5 Trojan viruses of the same names, in different locations every time I run a scan (daily!). It says it fixes them, but I'll run a scan right away and there they are again! I got Spyware Doctor, which found 1215 bits of adware/spyware on the first run, then 289, then 18, and most recently 5. The problem is, every time I run a scan on either program, these things are "deleted," "resolved," or "healed." So why do the same viruses with the same names keep showing up on EVERY scan??? Is there something on my computer that re-installs them? I am getting tired of the constant pop-ups! Can anyone suggest something that will take all of these things off my computer?

Download Ewido Anti-Malware, and get a real anti-virus protection program. Such as, ZoneAlarm.

I would tell you to run HijackThis, but it's obvious you're not one who would know about editing your registry(And do NOT attempt it, it's for advanced users. You could wipe out your computer.).

Whatever's in there, it sounds like it's embedded deeply enough that AVG can't get rid of it. Two courses of action:

1) Try some other free anti-adware/spyware tools. It's not uncommon for a piece of crudware dodge one program, only to have another one succeed in removing it. Two good ones are Ad-Aware SE and SpyBot Search & Destroy.

2) Get in touch with an online forum that specializes in helping people remove adware and spyware. Two that I have worked with are www.aumha.org and www.spywarewarrior.com; there are others out there.

They will probably ask you what you have done already to try and clean your machine. They will probably also ask you to download and run HijackThis (a diagnostic and removal tool), possibly other tools as well. Make sure you follow their instructions to the letter, especially regarding HijackThis.

Hope that helps. Best of luck.

Listen you need to buy a program that is called "Norton Security system works" It will protect you from adware spyware and any kind of viruses out there. There are others as well such as McCaffe suite But either one would do but get one quick. You will need to run either of the two several times to get rid of all the mess. It sounds like you need one very badly. Good luck and best wishes.

These viruses could be in some email or hiding and AVG finds it and fixes it for a time and then you go back to the internet or just boot up and the virus comes back. I have AVG Free and it works well for me. I have been virus free for over a year, but you have to be careful of where you go. Nasty sites are bad for giving adwares and downloading music is bad for getting viruses.

I'm no computer genius, but here's my 2 cents. It could either be that 1. Your Anti-Virus isn't doing what it's supposed to be doing (or not effectively, anyway), or 2. You're visiting a site (s) that's putting these things on your PC. Quick note, if you're using Internet Explorer, just get rid of it... I got pop ups all the time with it (even though I had blockers). Now I use Firefox and I haven't gotten 1 single pop up yet... Oh, I us AdAware as well. It's VERY effective, and free. ..where'd I get it? Hmm... I think it was 'download.com'. Good luck.

what a far-to-common problem. its happened to me countless times. the program i recommend iz called "MoveOnBoot" google it, its a free program with no spyware or viruses or trojans that i know of and it allows you to delete files and programs the next time you restart you computer. often you can't delete or resolve these files/viruses because they trick ur comp into thinking they r a running program, so ur comp wouldn't want to close it, but this program resolves that. the only trouble is you need to locate these files yourself (usually in "program files"), but since you have AVG you should know the names of your viruses/trojans etc. so locating them should be easy. it is recommended by a great tech show called "Call for Help", you can find a link to download this program by going to http://callforhelptv.com and clicking on free files and find MoveOnBoot.

Hope the helps, and good luck!

If you received this spyware from programs you downloaded, it will reinstall itself every time you boot until you uninstall the software! Nothing and I mean nothing is free! When you decide you want some freeware, read the contract in full! It will tell you that it is going to install spyware and or adware!

The only sure way is to get rid of the swiss cheese security nature that is Microsoft Windows.

Switch to Max OS or Linux.
