The whole purpose of outlawing drugs is to keep people from taking them but yet they continue to do it anyway. Can we ever stop people from taking drugs? Should we de-criminalize drugs and clear out some jail space for higher crimes and save billions of dollars? And in the process take the big money element away from crime lords? Perhaps concentrate our efforts even more on prevention? What is the outcome of the "war on drugs"?

I agree mostly that it is a burden on the taxpayers to keep people in jail simply because they had a few grams of marijuana, but some of the drug lords in jail really are mean and powerful, they by the way have a way of getting drugs inside sometimes easier than outside, so letting these people in the system enables them to set up another drug trade and therefore the punishment becomes moot.

I don't think you can stop people from doing anything they want to because there has been prostitutes since the beginning of time and there will always be as long as there are johns willing to pay the price. It is the same with drugs.

Big money was taken from illegal alcohol trade with the legalization of alcohol and liquor control boards were established I don't know why they can't do the same with drugs, I'm not talking about hard drugs like meth or crack, but they have mistakenly included and misled the general population into bying into the fact that all drugs are bad, well alcohol and nicotine are two of the most addictive drugs on the market and they are legal. What hypocrisy.

The whole purpose of outlawing drugs is to stop the robberies, murders and murderers.

The people that are hooked, are taking money from their children, food stamps from their children and
killing their parents, showing them a
dark side of life. Eventually, they too end up on the street killing people with drugs. Generation after generation----Nothing will stop the flow of drugs any more, when 1 bigshot comes down, there is ALWAYS someone else to take their
place. They live like kings and their
children get their every wish, while the junkies kids are starving, have no clothes, or shoes. Even at Christmastime, the Junkie will buy
their kids toys and eventually sell to their dealer. You need a shot of reality whether you want to believe it or not!!! Clear the jail cells you say?
I say BUILD MORE ON AN ISLAND
SOMEWHERE!!!!!

America has about 2.5 million people locked up, half of them are in on drug charges. Most drugs do seem to be fairly harmless, people experiment, people use them for a few years then get bored with them and move on, but the highly destructive and addictive drug methedrine does need to be prohibited. It just produces behavior thats too dangerous and anti social. I think we are at a point where so many people are employed because of the war on drugs;lawyers, judges, prosecutors, jailers, etc, that our economy has become dependent on keeping millions behind bars. The equivalent of every man, woman, and child in Chicago. It will either be stopped, or it will stop us, it is an economic and social cancer.

There is no possible way to stop people from doing drugs or it would have already happened. As far as leaglizing, Marijuana should definately decriminialized because it is realtively harmless and would free up alot of jail space. The "war on drugs" is a battle that can't be won.

drugs will always be around as long as escape is desired. It is a great way to be a victim for those of us with a victim mentality.Even if you legalized every drug, there will always be underground crime syndicates undercutting the market price.

that's the illegality of medicine that makes them as risky as they're. whilst's the final time you ever heard of somebody getting killed over a six-p.c.. of beer? the actuality that drugs are unlawful in this usa makes them especially worthwhile for the business enterprise and rather costly to the consumer. So, drug sellers shoot one yet another to earn greater funds and drug addicts lie, cheat and scouse borrow to have sufficient funds their habit. the two a type of issues could quit to be if drugs have been made criminal. we would desire to have greater addicts, yet we would have fewer human beings's lives destroyed as a consequence of medicine.

It does not work, that is why we should get rid of all of the drug laws. This is so dumb the drug war has failed we should not keep ban them.
