I am getting married next October I would like to go to the Carribbean for our honeymoon but everyone is telling me that it would be a bad idea because of hurricane season. Has anyboby gone there that time of year? Is it bad? Any suggestions?

I've lived in the Caribbean for 35 years ( St Thomas) and it is NOT really hurricane season..............you can have a storm any time of year, but Sept 15th is the statistical peak and then the chances drop rapidly every day thereafter.

watch the weather sites and do some research at www.nhc.noaa.gov and come on down.......you've got a better chance of snow in Boston than a storm in St Thomas...

October is iffy on hurricanes. I would take the chance. You will have several days notice of a pending problem and can always change your mind. I believe that Sandals resorts has a hurricane warranty that will take the worry out of it.

the only thing you can do if your heart is set on the Caribbean is to buy trip insurance and keep a check on the tropical wave coming off the African coast for the 2 weeks before the wedding;
