I believe that most people have no problem apologizing if they are proved wrong about an incorrect assertion they made about some factual information.

However, in some cases, an apology for certain actions is not required.

For instance, if people express a subjective opinion and you don't agree, an apology is not required.

The best way to resolve many of these kinds of problems is just to "agree to disagree" and get on with life.

Also, If you are talking about wanting someone to apologize for inflicting some pain on you or your psyche for reasons that they believe are still legitimate, no apologies will be forthcoming.

In most cases, apologies serve no meaningful purpose, other than indirect ego gratification.

I know. It is truly very sad that people can't face their own pride and be able to conquer it. Some people are very lucky. The find the strenght to control it, and they are the ones people generally like. It's okay. Even though the world is full of proud people, it is also full of nice people. Just try to ignore the former and become the latter.

We are inherently imperfect. We want others to think that we are perfect though, it's how we were made. This question makes me think of two diferent sayings, the first is well known and the second is not that said often. To err is human, but to forgive is divine. The second is when Peter asked Jesus how many times he should forgive his brother, "Up to seven?" he asked. Seven having the meaning of completeness in the bible. But Jesus said, "I say to you, not up to seven times, but up to seventy-seven times." Of course he wasn't being dogmatic meaning that you wouldn't count it out and at seventy-seven you no longer had to forgive your brother or your friend. But of course this is totally not the answer you were looking for. Sorry, I'll I can say is that for now we kind of suck. We have to work on it and I pray to forgive my brothers, even if they don't forgive me because I know that I shouldn't escpect forgiveness from God if I don't first forgive my brothers. So, peace and good will towards man and all that jazz.

I agree! What kind of person would I be to not accept that I am wrong. I always feel 100% better when I do apologize.

It takes a lot of inner strength to say “I’m sorry.” Ego comes into play and most people fall short in doing so. But, there are other people in the world who just easily say “I’m sorry” and mean it as well. Where do you belong??

Because that would mean taking responsibilty for their own actions (right or wrong). No one likes to be wrong! It is far easier to blame the other person (well...you made me hit you in the face!) So don't take it personally. No one wants to be held accountable for anything anymore.
