It has upset the balance of power by eliminating Iran's rival. Now they're becoming a head ache
Syria are sneaky. They stay behind the scenes and stir things up. They're not bragging about what they have or what they're doing but they are a lot more dangerous than people realize.
Now North Korea is flexing its muscles. I t seems these dictatorships are watching the political scene and taking advantage
when the U.S. is preoccupied elsewhere.
Omar Sharif in the movie "Che" said "We'll light so many fires under the Yankees they won't be able to put them out.
It seems between terrorists and these countries that that is what they are trying to do. Get the States to over stretch herself and collapse like the Soviet Union. I'm sure the CIA sees this.

The war was not a blunder, but the difficulty in making the peace work has been geometrically higher than anyone expected. It will eventually settle out and the world will be better for having tossed Saddam, but we are being sorely tested right now. Stick together and we can win. Keep attacking Bush and help the terrorists win the media debate.

Interesting point of view. Not sure I agree that we needed to be at war with Iraq. Remember WMD and shock and awe, lol. Anyway, we sort of made the mess we are in and we have a lot of cleaning up to do. It will take a long time to stabilize Iraq. I feel for our troops and the independants involved. But, it is what it is. And let us Americans not forget that we still have NO progress when it comes to locating Osama.

Iran always was the bigger issue. In fact, Rumsfield was instrumental in keeping Mr. Saddam in place to keep the Iranians in line until Saddam got out of hand in with his power hungry ways with Qwat. Truth be told Saddam's power before Desert Storm can be linked right back to us. And the No. Korea thing goes way back too.

Yes, people always take advantage of situations, America included. But, I don't agree that the U.S. will collapse like the Soviet Union. We're a pretty resilent bunch over here. We'll come to our senses as a people and get back to the business of diplomacy and building a better world.

I disagree on the perspective that USA will collapse like the Soviet Union. The parallels of USSR invading Afghanistan with USA invading Iraq is tempting but completely false, as the economics of USSR were at a stand-still when they invaded, and that could hardly be the case in current USA; in addition to the fact that the USSR did not really fight the Moujahiddins, but rather the USA who was backing it in a proxy war. Now, who backs up Iraq so called "terrorists"? Aside from a wave (almight quite big) of self declared djihadists, there is no mingling of a major power against the USA in Iraq. However, that said, Iraq will be a thorn on USA side for many years to come, and will give credit to the notion that there must be a balance of power somewhere to put the USA a bit in check... C'ause ever since their victory in WWII, it kind of went over their heads to think that they can act and get involved on pretty much everything in this world. Could it be China? or Europe? or just a bit of self restrainment after this major blunder in Iraq that will humble a bit the USA? Who knows... We cannot predict the future, and we cannot -still- understand who will come out definite winners and loosers out of Iraq. However, trends show that USA will NOT win. They will back up, retreat, and leave a country in total chaos. This Chaos could turn into a breeding ground for operations against USA, and that is not good for any of us standing on the receiving end of this Islamic swing. Another thing is sure as well: that USA will take another 20 years -minimum- before it finds courage again to "go it alone". In this respect, Iraq is very similar to Vietnam. Unless USA gets attacked once more, it will definitely act more in synch with the world, and will act more on "police" issues than pure military aggression. And that, in my humble opinion, cannot be a bad thing: USA has to take a chill pill, and let the world develop on their own terms. So what if Iran becomes Nuclear? and North Korea? If we didn't bother them all the time, the idea of creating a mass destructive weapon would not be necessary in the first place. Now, because of the incessant threats by Bush administration, they will get a weapon, they will threat us, and they could sell it to independent fighters. And so... moral of the story... you reap what you sow.

Iraq has been a blunder from the start. When I first heard about going to War in Iraq I did not think the media was serious. Bush has just entertained against Federal law Nazarbayev, the leader of Tajikistan who has very serious human rights abuses with 99% poverty rate while the country has more natural gas than any other country. I just mentioned this because there are many despicable leaders in this country who ought to be overthrown. Furthermore Iraq and US were allies in the Iraq-Iran War (1980-1988). The US and Germany provided the biological and chemical poison that was used to gas over 100,000 Iranians and thousands of Iraqi Turks & Shia's. The sad commentary on this is the US was in full knowledge of the going ons at the time. As matter of fact it was Cheney and Rumsfeld signature on the sale of these weapons to Hussein.

:Unfortunately for those who can't get along without definite answers for everything, it's impossible to know if it was a blunder, because things might have turned out worse if we hadn't gone in after Saddam. It's possible things wouldn't have been as bad, but there were some pretty good reasons at the time for thinking things would work out better than they have.

We have made a mess out of things. After 9/11 we had almost the whole world on our side. Now we have almost no one. Our diplomacy has been awful We were so arrogant when we went in to Iraq. Now we have made our own situation a 1000 times worse. We need to admit that and do all we can to salvage this situation before it is too late.
