try to have a serious talk. she probably still thinks you her little baby girl, so point out how you've grown up with some responsibilities you've taken on. then maybe even show her with a chart how you intend to spend the money. it would be wise to find out how much movie tickets cost and about how much clothes you would like to buy in a month. most adults do a monthly budget, if you can show her you can go by one too, maybe she'll raise your allowance. also consider the fact that maybe 3 dollars a week is all your family can afford, the economy sucks real bad right now and that means your parents might be making lots of money that doesnt even begin to cover all their debts.

Make a list of all the economic needs you have that are making you need a raise and a list of things you actually do for her to see if what you are actually doing overweighs what she has been giving you. Then ask her to make a list of new things she would like you to help her with and based on these facts, ask for a reasonable raise for the new things...

The best way is not to try. Do things extra and don't mention them to your mom. She'll soon see that you are willing to do extra for more money.
