well its pretty easy to learn, but, you have a chance of forgetting one of the other strokes you have learnt as i and a few people i know have.
the best way to learn is to see it happen first, to visualise it makes you know what to do.
http://www.sportcentric.com/vsite/vfile/page/fileurl/0,11040,4716-160290-177506-79387-0-file,00.pdf is a good pdf file about all the strokes and has a section on butterfly that goes through step by step
hope this helps

hi prospective butterfly champ.
dont hold any thing, and just try the dolphin kick for 4 laps daily,, let ur body move swiftly, u know how to do that,, keep ur legs straight and move ur hips up and down and give it a waving motion starting from ur head,
try that for some time til u become comfortable,
next step,, 2 kicks and one hand stroke, both hands together, just keep kicking and every alternate kick, lift ur body and through ur hands ahead,, mind you, try and get ur palms close to ur head,, and not too far swing,, and stretch it ahead,,
the second kick that starts the hand movement eases ur pulling,, so 2 kicks and one pull
then u need drills and practice buddy
enjoy and good luck.

Key things to remember in Butterfly:
1) use your hips!
2) move your legs like a whip! (the movement)
3) dont overuse your shoulders!
good luck! butterfly can be hard!
