I have a queston for ya'll. I have been nursing for 8 1/2 months now. Last month I got my period for the first time PP. Now .... it is time again for my period and it isn't here. Could I be pregnant or do you miss periods while nursing after you have started them? We are only nursing about 3 times a day so I don't know what is going on. What are your ideas?

Every woman is different, so it is hard to say. I would guess, because you have only had 1 period since your little one was born, that your cycle has not regulated and you are not pregnant. But, every woman is different so it would probably be best to check with your doctor just to be sure.

Good luck!

I breastfed my daughter for the first year. I had a c-section, so my doctor put me on a low dosage birth control pill (only type I could take while nursing) because he didn't want me to get pregnant for at least 6 months. I got my first period 5 months after birth. Even with the birth control, my next period was about 1-1/2 months after that. It wasn't until I was done nursing that my cycles were back to normal. I have heard that nursing is a natural birth control (not fool proof), but that it only lasts for about 9 months. One of my close friends got pregnant 6 months after giving birth while nursing, so anything is possible. If you are late, try taking a test.

It is possible to get pregnant while you are nursing. If you are having sex, you need to use a condom. The nursing can make you irregular though so just because you missed your period that doesn't mean you are pregnant. If you don't get it soon, take a test, and just use some form of bc while you are nursing.

Breastfeeding can cause you to miss from time to time. Even when you have started them.

Good chance you just missed a cycle but be ware of the next if you miss it also then go get check .

My Dr. told me that while most women usually don't get pregnant while they are breastfeeding, it is still very possible. That is why they have low estrogen birth control pills for breastfeeding mothers. Take a test.
