our freedom of speech is already gone. our freedom of privacy is already gone. anytime you make a phone call or send an e-mail or fax it is subject to be screened by the FBI or the nsa under the pretense of protecting the freedoms of our citizens. funny how that works.

Before bad mouthing President Bush over this, just remember that he is following a precedent. In fact, some of the presidents most remember for civil rights contributions are guilty. Lincoln suspended habeas corpus during the civil war. He even had an Ohio senator named Valandingham (sp?) arrested from his home in the middle of the night and charged with treason. The reason? He endorsed a peaceful resolution to the war, and a reconciliation with the Confederacy. F.D.R. allowed for Japanese-American "detention camps" during WWII. While I may not agree with what the President is doing, remember that he is not the first, and the only way to change the way things are done is to stand up, and work to change it yourself. Take an active hand in your local politics, send letters to your federal senator. If that does not work, vote.

So everyone who disagrees with your view is "being frowned upon by our founding fathers"?

I've looked at several of your Q's. You seem to like to call people names. Do you think that helps to get your point across?

If it's intelligent dialog you seek, you have to start there yourself. People are like mirrors; they reflect what they're presented with.

Now you can call me a name, if it makes you feel better!

Update 10/19:

For all to see...here's the E-mail you just sent me. I wonder why you won't accept a reply via EM while you feel free to spew your venom (privately) into my mailbox. My only response to this hatred is to hope that others will read it as well and draw their own conclusions. Don't bother trying to EM back to me. you've been added to my spam list.

(You'll just have to spew in public)

The real question should be why don't you want the US protected- are you a terrorist?????? Our founding fathers put a clause in the Constitution that said that Habeas Corpus could be suspended... so I don't think they are frowning to much... thanks... have a nice day....

Terrorists are not the same as soldiers from another country. They are not on equal footing with American citizens, or even citizens from other countries.

To accord them the same protections as those fighting in lawful wars would be ridiculous.

Those who blow up children and cut people's heads off are not expecting to be fined and put on probation for their misdeeds. They are expecting to die.
