My father would take a leather belt to us.
If the buckle caught you it could be intense LOL
Or he'd just beat us up a bit with his fists and boots. In those days, kids were designed to take a beating without it being some kind of abuse, and cause for a pity party as seems to be the case these days.
I can't remember my mum ever once hitting me; that wasn't the way it worked. She would tell my dad what I did wrong, and he would thrash me when he got home.

My parents had a wooden paddle, too!! My Dad also used a belt, a switch, a fly swatter,or his hand...and I agree with you on "OUCH", also!!

Yes,, Mom had a belt hung on the back of the door and sometimes I had to break a limb off a Peach tree for her. Pretty much always mom, seldom dad.

Well, my dad wasn't exactly father of the year. He'd hit me with just about anything. I've been "spanked" with a two by four, a crow bar, aluminum bat, hot wheels track, chains, claw hammer, florescent light, if it was in the garage or tool shed, I've been beat by it. When I was 16, my dad hit me with the goddamn car. What the hell kind of man would do that to his son?

Oh the memories....The slotted wooden spoon. Funny thing is that I would cover my @ss with my hands and she would wind up smacking my knuckles with the spoon. Damn - that hurt worse than if I just let her spank my @ss!!

one of dads' leather belts, wooden spoons (my mom carried a couple in her purse), spatulas, pretty much anything they could get their hands on. I was a bad kid. I got it a lot. Never felt like I was abused though.

Started out with the hand, then came the belt, then came the orange extension cord, then came... hmmm I must have blacked out by the time they got tired of beating me with the extension cord and went to the next more painful device...oh and this was all in one punishment session.

I got whooped with anything that was handy... wooden spoons, flip-flops, extension cords... if nothing was handy at the moment I got the bare handed whoopin'.

I got threatened with the belt but never had it used on me. I got the hand a couple of times.
