I had my children young but my mam was 43 when she had me, an only child.
I never thought her old she was just my mother no different to my friends mams.I dont think she felt old i kept her young.
She and my dad looked after my children a lot, in fact they lived for them. They died when my children were young adults.
No I dont think 44 too old., and these days people in their 40s seem much younger than in the 1950s.

my mum had me at 43 (my age now) i lost her when i was only 21. i vowed to have all my kids before 40. i think 44 is old for a baby and im probably gonna get bad rating for saying it but im telling the truth u asked so i answered.

i miss my mum a lot. i know it could have happened at any age - it has good side to it i suppose to ie financial and more patient who knows. all i know is that 43 in my case was too old and i wish she had me sooner so i could have known her longer.

My grandmother had her last child when she was 47. She said that she didn't feel old when she had him, and she didn't feel old his first few years.. when she felt old was when he graduated from high school and she was 65.. she didn't have the energy to go to all his graduation activities.. she didn't have the energy to go to many of his high school games.. etc..

It's not how old you are when you HAVE the baby.. it's how old you're going to be by the time they're teenagers.. Are you going to have the attention span at 60 to keep tabs on a 15 year old? Are you going to be able to go to games and events? What about grandchildren? Will you ever see them? Will you be too old to care for them or have them over for a night?

There's lots to think about.

Hello Bev,

I'm 42 and i wouldn't consider having another child now. I don't know if you are 44 and expecting a baby or just asking because you're interested. And my approach to answering this question is stilted because there is not enough information.

I just wanna say this, I went to the health department when i was 39 yrs old, i was with a friend who was pregnant, but i asked one of the nurses if I was too old to get pregnant, she said i'd better hurry up or I would be too old! kinda hurt my feelings . but i don't think i would feel too old at that age, you are probably in good health and would feel good having a baby, so why not!

Well, my mother was 44 when I was born. She and my father were planning on having another child..when he died of cancer. So, I would have to say...no, she didn't feel too old.

Yes, and if you're fit for it, you shouldn't feel old about it. 44 isn't like it used to be, old. I don't consider old until 75/80 anymore.
