The original start of NAFTA was by minister Brian Mulroney and President George H Bush
It was passed by the house with
132 Republican and 102 Democrats and passed in the senate by 61 to 38 and then signed into law by President Clinton. This took along time to pass but it was not started by Clinton. It passed by Republicans. I don't know that it devastated all the middle class but believe it has done some damage there are people who have lost jobs and there homes because of it.

I don't remember hearing Republicans criticizing Bill Clinton for NAFTA. Certainly, the Reps have long been stronger on free trade, including NAFTA, than the Demos. It's a pretty wild exaggeration to say the middle class has been devastated. The problems they do have are due to a lot of things other than free trade.

Because he did support it. Or worse he did little to reverse fast track rule put in place so Senate could not amend trade aggrements. Remember this if Clinton 2 ever runs.

I agree what middle class are you tallking about????

The gains from America’s economic growth have been widely shared throughout society. Low- and middle-income families, not just the wealthy, have seen their standards of living improve dramatically. Family incomes have risen well above where they were a generation ago, and most Americans now enjoy luxuries that in the past only the well-off could afford. Almost all Americans now have better health, education, housing, and consumer goods than they did even a decade ago.

Don't know what country you're in.
The middle class is doing great in the USA!
Thanks to Bush's tax cuts. Helping us all.
I escaped the Democrat Plantation and have now moved into the middle class, thanks to Bush.
Never heard a single Republican talk about Clinton supporting NAFTA.
Heard some Democrats squeal, at the time.

The middle class in this country is hardly devastated. I'm firmly entrenched in the Middle Class and I live a nice life, am able to send my kids to catholic school, and have extra spending money at the end of each month.

What middle class are you talking about that is struggling?

1) I haven't heard Reps talk about it much.
2) Bill Clinton DID suport NAFTA.

Uh, cuz he did, cuz.

His wing of the Dems use reality to determine their economic policies; it's about the only thing that crowd has going for them.
