Men have stuff to carry too! I think most guys don't do it, just because they don't know *how* to.

I wear "cargo" pants a lot, for all the pockets, but that doesn't always work because I may have to dress another way, at times.

I tried carrying a moderately sized messenger bag around, a few years ago; but then my gf, of the time, kept making fun, calling it a purse, so I quit using it.

Stuff I prefer to carry around includes:
wallet, business card holder, change, calculator, pen, small notepad, a few pieces of hard candy, hand sanitizer, comb, and anything else that might be needed.

Why can't a man have stuff to carry around?
Why can't a man carry some sort of thing around to keep his stuff in without it being made fun of and called a "purse?"

My suggestion is a nice leather messenger bag. It looks sharp and it serves the purpose. I recommend www.ebags.com because they always have huge sales! I think it's unfair that men are expected to not need things. Your ex gf sounds rude because you were just trying to be practical. Like I said before, look for a nice leather messenger bag and it will look good for business but not too dressy for the casual times. If you can't get a leather one, I suggest getting a plain black one and I would recommend Manhattan Portage for that. You can get them on ebags.com or on the manhattanportage.com site. I have a black messenger bag from them and it's wonderful. Good luck!!

Your girlfriend was crazy. Use a messenger bag. Just stick a book or something in there too, then you'll fool people inot thinking you're carryng a bookbag. Or you could get a nice sized wallet, and use hand sanitizer that comes in individual wipes so you can stick that in there. Get a blackberry for you calculator/notepadding needs.

I went through the same harassment from many coworkers as I tried several variations of the dreaded "man-bag". I finally opted for a bit of misdirection. I now carry a laptop case and put everything in it except an actual laptop. Fools everyone I know!

Carry around your waist a fannypouch. They work for most men. Only find one you really like alot. make sure it fits comfortable, that it's easy to adjust, and is just the right size for you.

There are also pouches that attach to one's belt & hang down. The shirt covers it up. These are usually a little smaller, but some men don't like the feeling or sight of a fannypouch around their waist. Or sometimes worry about what people will think of them with a fanny pack on. Mostly old people wear fannypacks/fannypouches.

Or ask your girlfriend or wife to carry your few odds and ends with her in her pouch.

I prefer a pouch that clips and stays on around the waist. They start at only $6.00 and go up from there. You can find them all over , in malls, at Walmart or Target.

Start throwing all your stuff in a brown paper lunch bag or zip lock baggy and carrying that around. Your girl will be begging you to bring back the messanger bag. Heck- she might even buy you one. Messenger bags and backpacks are both fine.

That is a good question & I agree.
I can tell you what my husband does.
he keeps 3 carring items in his tunk for a "when ever I need it time".
1 brief case for dressier occations.
2.small travel pack or small duffle bag for just walking around casually.
3. business looking larger planner book that zips so it can be totally closed. wich he totally clears out and puts what ever he wants in it.
he keeps the 3 fully stocked in the trunk and a "planner" on him most times.
I personally prefer the large zip-up planner because it is not as formal as the buisness suit case but not as casual as a traval pack or duffle bag. we can go into a restuarant with that (which we have many times) and it does not stick out. he just looks like a business man with his daily planner. I guess it might look like were just haveing a business dinner together.
belive it or not he fits things into that thing I can't even fit into my purse.

UPDATE: I just checked the link to the bags you have. you girlfriend thinks that looks like a purse? She needs her eyes checked. there as absolutly nothing wrong with carring that with you. infact it looks alot like the "casual travel" bag my husband carries.
I seriously think you should be aloud to carry it without ridicule. your girlfriends behavior seems to be a bit selfish. If she is embarrest by it then SHE should get a bigger purse to carry your stuff in it for you when the two of you are out. problem solved. she will not be embarrest & you still have your stuff with you. It seems like a reasonalble compromize to me.

I get what you're saying, but I don't go for the man purse either. Can you carry a backpack? I know you can't if you're dressed nicely. I guess that's one of the benefits of being involved with a woman. She can carry all your stuff, except wallet & heys.
