Why did it all of the sudden become "unmanly" for a man to wear a nightgown?

Men wore nightshirts right into the twentieth century.
I can't seem to find a particular era when it became less popular to do so.
I would guess by the end of WW2 men would have been less inclined to wear them.
Can you imagine the Allied Forces sending their men to war in nightshirts?

Of course some men still wear them.
This link (for a store in Vermont) has many men's nightshirts for sale, some are quite smart and comfortable looking.

A little homework has turned up the following- my greatgrandmother (106) says she remembers a good portion of men wore them in the 20's and/but they were mostly of Brittish descent. My grandmother (89) says that from '36 to '46 the niteshirt worn by men went from few to none. From this I figure that because of the Depression spending on fancy sleep drab was put on hold, then WW11, then after that men just thought it not manly. Me, I think they're comfortable- I have three

It was never manly to wear a nightgown. Women wear those. Men sometimes wore nightshirts. Men used to wear pajamas, but most men either sleep nude or in underwear now. Why? Because it's comfortable and guys are all about comfortable.
