After I uninstalled Norton, my system runs faster and has
much more RAM available.
I switched to CA - one year for free!

Norton anti-virus was always popular of using more registry entities, than any other anti-viruses. That is why it's quite frequent that they mess with your computer, but also note this: There are viruses wich can infect your anti-viruses too.

Do yourself a favor and dump NAV. It's notorious for 'messing up' PCs, especially those running Windows. I tried two versions of NAV and I found the result to be the same: s-l-o-w performance.
There are a lot of other choices around for running antivirus scans on your computer: avast!, AVG, MacAfee, to name a few. I suggest you try them out and determine for yourself what's the real cause for your PC's slowdown. Most are available as free trialware in one convenient place from http://www.download.com
