Just be straight with him, if you are really good friends then he will understand. It is better coming from the horses mouth so to speak, then him finding out from some one else!!!
Or if you can not face telling him face to face you could try telling him in letter form, but be nice and explain you love him as a good friend and that will never change. Another way you could do it is make a video of yourself again explaining your reasons why you only want to be friends.

If its a guy
Dont play mind games or give him hints. It probably wont work and he wont get a message. Treat him like your other guy mates and try and hang around with him at first only in groups. Also tell him stari that you think of him only as a freind, and ntothing else at all. He will hopefully get the message but remember just be honest and strait.
If its a girl
exactly the same but dont be too strong or the girl might just try harder

Telling him is a good idea. How do you know he likes you more than just friends though? It used to annoy me at College when women who were my friends would turn round and say 'You do know we're just friends don't you?'. I never thought of them as anything more but it used to get on my nerves as it's like being rejected by someone that you never even asked out. If he makes a move on you say to him. Otherwise just treat him like a friend.

You have some reason for simply not telling him?
OK. Well, you could, for example, print out all the answers (copy - cut - paste to a document, if needs be) you receive here, and show them (with maybe a little executive editorial decision making) to him. Maybe that would help the situation!

Well you have to tell him in some point just try to be the nicest you can. You should take him out for coffe and just tell him what you really feel that you just want to be friends. If he dosent talk to you any more that means he is not a true friend he will get over is in a point in life he just has to face the facts.

If he tells u again he likes u, u gota put ur foot down and say i like u i realy do but well i jus wana b frends,let him down gently,but dont jus say it out of the blue,coz den he'll no u've obviously been thinkin bout it,so if u do it wen he's sayin i like u blah blah blah,den he might not b so terrible about it,u've gota b really nice about it,say sumtin like ur more like my brother than my boyfrned and it jus wudnt work out,coz i always wana hav u as a frend and chances r things wudnt work out then we'd hate each other!!!

I think he would appreciate you being honest with and telling him you only look at him as a friend. I have had to do the same thing.

If he makes a pass at you just say. "I just want to be friends." He'll be gone quick. You see boys can't be just friends with girls because of that wonderful hormone called TESTOSTERONE. Young boys don't know how to control it yet. We get the hang of it at say 70 years old. Just before death. So unless you want a boyfriend don't talk to boys!

coming from a guy, let me tell you:
vague hints DO NOT WORK.
dating other guys DOES NOT WORK.
asking him for relationship advice about other guys DOES NOT WORK.
your only option is to tell him, straight up, no hinting, no soft-pedalling, no skirting the issue. if you do NOT tell him, he will ALWAYS assume he has a chance.
and then, when he finds out he doesnt, he'll be CRUSHED, and ask why you never told him before.
trust me; tell him NOW, flat out. "sorry, but i only think of you as a friend."
