Marlon Byrd or Mike Cameron are opportunities in CF. i could additionally prefer to work out the Cubs sign Placido Polanco. The Tigers are no longer likely to hold him decrease back as they're reducing payroll. Poly is a sturdy No 2 hitter and a sturdy glove at 2b. If the Cubs might desire to no longer sign a genuine leadoff hitter i think of they might plug Theriot in that functionality with Polanco 2d. i think of Reed Johnson could the Cubs renounce him might desire to preserve Cf in the mean time and probably the CUbs could make a commerce for a Cf it sluggish in the process the season in the previous the commerce ultimate date.. I additionally think of they like a million greater commencing pitcher.

Alfanso Soriano is the number one choice on their list. He won't come cheap.

The wish-list here in Chicago is to trade fro AROD too -- but that isn't going to happen. An infield of Ramirez at 3B; Arod at SS; Soriano at 2B abd DLee at 1B would be great. But they would have to trade Zambrono for Arod and that weakens an already suspect pitching staff.

Look for Piniella to trade to upgrade that bench too. If Felix Pie is ready -- then you have a stud in CF. That would be nice.

The Cubs could improve fast under piniella. Look for them to get Soriano and at least one other big free agent signing to go with some help for the bench.

Good question.

Weaver has a good chance to stay in St. Louis. There's been a lot of talk about A-Rod, but what the Cubs need is pitchers! And stop relying on Mark Prior to be healthy. That is a waste of time for someone who hasn't proven himself for more than one good season. That's why the Cubs have faltered lately, they're waiting on health. That never works.

Starting pitchers for sure, like one of the three japanese pitchers coming to america, the hitters i think would be less important, although having soriano would be awesome.

Aramis Ramirez. He is a cornerstone, just needs to be coached better to be more productive. He is a superstar waiting to happen!
