I'm looking to get a new game. I don't know much about either but I saw that both of these were selling for $20, and I was just wanting to see if anyone owned one or both of these who could give some feedback.
Most of the games I own are either sports or GTA games, plus Katamari.
What kind of games are they? Are they really time-consuming or can you just pick it up and play? What's the total gameplay time (estimate)?

I own God of War but I've also played Shadow of the Colossus. I gotta say that God of War is a must have specially for that price. It trully is a great acion adventure game that had me stuck on it for a while. The whole story is awesome but the best aspect of it is definately the game play. Shadow of the Colussus is also action adventure but its more story than action so it will take you longer to pass. SOTC still does have amazing graphics and the gameplay is cool but if you are looking for something that's funner to play and easy to pick up I say go with God of War. I think God of War took me a few days (like 2 or 3) to pass. It was a whole lot of fun and kept me asking for more.

I have both of these games as well as a lot of the GTA games. I also think that if you have to choose between the two that you should go with God of War. Shadow was a lot of fun but there is a lot of horseback riding which can go on forever. Seriously. There are a few times where you have to ride for like an hour and a half real world time before you can find anything to fight. It's a great world building game but was very time consuming. God of War was great fun. I also finished it in a weekend, but then you can play it on 'God Mode' and that is really difficult. Plus the story, puzzles and fighting are all top-notch. It is much more fun, whereas Shadow was downright frustrating at times. Also, God of War 2 is on the horizon, so you'll want to play through God of War before it comes out.
If you have $40 to spend, I'd say get both. But God of War is a better bet if you have to decide between the two.

God of War is better then Shadow of the Colossus.

I would have to say God of War.
It is short but fun. It only took me and a friend like 5 hrs to beat it.
Don't get me wrong Shadow of the Colossus is good and all but you will enjoy God of War a lot more.
P.S. I like God of War mostly because of the violence so......

the two God of warfare video games are nicely worth enjoying. start up with the 1st...purchase it used and shop some $$$$. I havn't performed Shadow of the Collosus yet enjoyed the interest ICO, the 1st between the sequence.
