All kidding aside...(yes Whitney can be a pretty scary thing-love ya Whitney!!). And I consider "The Godfather" one of the scariest of all movies when you consider the thought content and the extreme measure of real violence that stuck in your gut after the film. Don't think this is a horror movie, read the back of the book. The absolute scariest moment is a tie. It is Damien from the original 'The Omen'. The stare he delivers to his nanny as she literally hangs herself from the home they live in after jumping from a upper floor window. That's when you know you're really hooked in this movie. And from a younger time, the scene from another Master Of The Macabre movie, Stephen King's 'Salems Lot'. When the child is dangling-no wire's folks-outside his brother's bedroom window, after agonizing Hitchcockian seconds, the older brother is hypnotized and then, absolutely losing his will, let's the younger brother in! Something about the windows I guess. Something terrible is waiting out there!!! Ahhhhh!!!!

There's many scary scenes in my mind. I'd have to say the scene in "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" where Emily is in the barn and being possessed by the 6 demons. That's crazy. And it's scary because that type of stuff CAN happen. People can't comeout of TV's. But people can get possessed.

Another scary moment is in the Blair Witch Project. The whole movie is pretty scary . . . because we all have gone camping in the woods before and we can relate to our imagination playing tricks on us. But anyway - I think the most scary moment is when the three people are trying to sleep one night and they hear children playing outside their tent (in the middle of the freakin woods!). I was freaked out when that happened. Then when the tent was getting pushed in? Oh my god! I almost lost it. I can't imagine that happening to me while I am camping. I'd literally have a heart attack.

It's the moments in movies that make you think . . . that "could happen" that makes them scary. The ones that make you say "it's only a movie" are the ones that aren't scary. But I know that everyone who first heard about the Blair Witch thought it was real by the way they set it up (with the preview, the website). Plus, it could happen. Kids can go into a woods and get turned around and go nuts.

My Favourite moment is in the Ring(Japanese version) when video is being played and the man is watching it your steering at the screen and then it cuts to the Wishing well all a sudden a figure of a lady is coming towards it step by step then she steps in and out of the T.V and kills the man. I dare you to watch that in the dark alone.

All of it scared me!
my scariest bit in a film has too be in Saw when that photographer wakes up in his developing room to find that there is no electric and he can here someone in his apartment!
He then walks around the apartment flashing his camera, we get put in his shoes at that point as we see as much as him! and then the clown laughin, i cried so much because of that and i was in the cinema as well!
Ive got a bit of a phobia with clowns!

But that was the scariest bit of the whole film, well apart from that clown thing all the way through!

For me it has been only one movie that made me jump out of my seat and that was The Amityville Horror when it first came out in the theatres and the part in the movie that jumped me is when the husband is sitting downstaires, by himself, in the dark ,smoking a ciggeratte, by a window and all of a sudden a black cat jumps by the window and meows a screaming way. Other than that, no other movie has ever jumped me like that.

Misery when Kathy Bates realises the fella has been hobbling round the house, so she puts a block of wood between his legs, just above the ankle and breaks his legs by hitting them sideways with a sledgehammer.

WOW !!!!! I read your question on the main section and instantly thought of one, then went into your question and saw it was from 'IT' too - just shows how scary the film is !

The bit that really scared me though was when the main character was looking in the photo album and the picture of his dead little brother winked at him.
