I know you may feel that the playstation is part of your family, and you may well have a deep relationship with it, I think that you're seriously threatening this relationship by complaining about its cost.
Seriously though.. I guess it could be argued that if, as you said, people are going to pay that much regardless, then it's in the best interests of Sony to charge that much. If you look at other consoles in this generation, eg. the X-BOX 360, you'll see that, unfortunately, the price is quite standard.

You are completely right! That is wayyyy to much to pay for a game system that will eventually go down in a year or two. I don't know many people who would pay $600 for something that will be replaced by something else next year! But you're right, people will be paying for one for this year...especially for Xmas time. And the distributers know what they are doing to....they expect to get more profit since they will start selling them in the later fall...when children start asking for what they want from parents! Etiher way.....I agree with you.....its RIDICULOUS!!

The reason it will be this pricey is because that is what people will pay. Supply & demand dictate the price of such things, and if Mom & Dad behave as they always have, they will want their little Angel to have the biggest & best for their Christmas gift. They charge whatever the market will allow them to get away with charging. And is it worth it? In my opinion, not a chance. SONY = The Evil Empire anyway.

I agree with you. It's crazy for a video game system to cost this much. As far as i'm concerned it can stay right on the shelf because that amount of money is some people's rent. The hard core gamers will buy it because it's the new kid on the block. I like playing video games, but not enough for me to spend that amount of money on one.
