Music of any kind never dies. Thats the magic of music and especially in modern times we can listen to the recordings of artists forever (theoretically anyway). However, I do not what you are getting at and what I said is valid to that point. Think, if we did not have the facility to record sound and music, then the youth of today and the future would never hear some of the best songs ever recorded in their full glory. Stairway to heaven, Alright Now, Bohemian Rhapsody all great songs, but the original artists who made these songs are no longer completely together. So I choose to listen to 'classic' rock music and remember how good rock music was at it's peak.

Having said that many will argue that it still lives, just with a modern twist and the distortions of time and culture. Personally I hate alot of what is called 'rock' these days. I mean however good they might be, Coldplay most certainly are not a 'rock' band! So 'rock' music does live on in different guises and will continue to do so for centuries to come, just as the blues has lived for centuries, spawning what we call rock.

In fact, talk to rap fans and they'll tell you that rap is dying as well. It isn't, but the percieved standard is falling. Punk has supposedly been dead for years, just like disco, but yet people still listen to the stuff; which in turn means people are still making this kind of music. The same goes for rock, it might not be a fundamental part of mainstream popular music as it once was, but it will live on. Long live rock'n'roll I say, and I have no doubt it will do just that.

Rock is not dead and will not die. There are all types of rock out now, people play the older stuff, and then other people put new twists on it. The attitude and lifestyle of rock is still very much alive, you just have to look in the right places. If the new rock doesn't do it for you, find people that play the old rock. What's popular goes in circles, pretty soon the music that is popular now (and considered rock) will not be popular and people will either go back to the old style of rock, or try something new again, it's always evolving.
If you are still listening to it, and appreciating it, whether it's old or new, then it's not dead.

Rock may have changed a lot, you have that right, but there is no way it is dead. I see what you are saying though because most of the bands we thought would bring back rock(not that it ever left), ended up changing or dying out. For example, the killers were bound to bring back synth rock, until they changed to a "more american sound" on their new album. Yeah right. But hey, it' not like we need new bands to rock, we can still listen to Nirvana and ACDC regardless. If you love rock, stick with it, because we can let it live.

Rock music is not dead! There are way too many rock fans to let it die. Fans of rock never switch over to easy listening; they stick with rock. Rock music will have slight changes over the years (styles, speed, instruments added to the traditional drum/bass/guitar lineup), but it will stay true to its roots.

Disco, on the other hand, is dead.

Nah, Rock wont ever die. And I dont know why people think that. You dont hear people going around saying "country music is dead"........but country music has changed as much in the last 10-20 years as rock has.

Rock is not dead, just listen to any rock station that's on the radio. Rock has just gone "underground", and will resurface in the near future. If rock were dead, then rap would die, too, because they get most of their samples from rock.

Rock will never officially die. There are now different variations of it. Bands and singers are now doing more than just one genre, which is opening people up too different genres. A good example of this is Keith Urban. True rock isn't dead though.

The only sort of music that is dead is disco, punk an probably the 60's sounds. Rock was out years ago (Cream, Deep Purple, Free, Black Sabbath) it will live on forever.
