You actually can't. Even the e-mail clients that show photos are only opening attachments in the body of the e-mail.

Now, to contradict myself, there is a way, but it's a bit complicated. You can use a program such as MIME which converts binary files to text so that you can send them over email programs that don't accept attachments. The problem is that it requires a bit of manipulation to do this, and the email would be fairly large for an image. Below is a description of MIME.

Not unless you're using an e-mail client that supports HTML code... then you can just include a link to the uploaded photo. However, if you don't already have a preset page with the photo (like a photobucket.com account or a personal website) you will have to first sign up with a photo account service somewhere, upload the photos, and copy and paste their URLs into the text body of your e-mail. Attachments are a lot simpler, IMHO. Why do you wish to avoid attachments?

You can do that using Mozilla Thunderbird.
The pictures go in the body of text as inline.

I believe Outlook can do that too.

Or, you can always upload the pictures to sites like Flickr.com and Photobucket.com, then send an email with the link to the albums.

You can upload your images to a service such as Flickr (which is owned by Yahoo!) and then when you send your email you send the address to your Flickr account and they should be able to see your pictures without having to be in an attachment.

If you have a server of yourself you can do the same thing.
