get it fixed if it's smoking. Or are you looking for a smoking truck?

You didn't provide much info such as weather conditions, does it do it hot and cold and does the white smoke have an unusual oder. On damp cold mornings there will be "steam" until the engine warms. A couple of possibilities would be coolant getting into the exhaust which would have a sweet smell or auto trans fluid which probably wouldn't stop as quickly.

First thing to find out is how it smells. If it has kind of a sweet smell to it, the truck may be burning coolant. This would be caused by a blown head gasket, a cracked head or block. Check your coolant level and check to see if there is any brownish sludge in the coolant. Otherwise may be running extremely lean in which case the truck should also be running hotter than usual.

Check your oil lines; one might be damaged. Or you could check your antifreeze/coolant lines for a whole or something. I know it has something to do with a liquid system in the truck. Did you, by chance, drive it through a lot of water?

If its real cold out, Your gas or fule could be geling or freeazing up. Also if you have a turbo. there could be a problem there. But, white smoke is uaualy a sign of a very rich gas/fuel mixture.
