I drank some strong drinks last night. I felt sick this morning and telephoned work to take the day off. I felt so sick today I telephoned work again to take tommorrow off as well.

I have been vomiting up lots of water and sometimes being sick / heaving stomach with nothing coming up. My head hurts as well. Do I need to go to the Dr with this? I feel like I am going to die.

For today, take a couple of Excedrin and keep sipping fluids all day.

Go to the Dr. I hadn't considered Alcohol poisoning. Maybe going to the Dr. would be a good Idea. I was hung over many times, but never to this extent.

I'll tell you a trick I learned at 23 when I was dating a bartender, HOW to drink.

Have 1 drink, non sweet, the sugar will give you a horrible hangover. Then alternate Iced water with lemon then a drink, water then a drink. I personally am a Scotch and water person. I NEVER drink sweet drinks. YUK!!

You will keep a pleasant little buzz without getting sick drunk.

As you mature you will learn keeping the little buzz is nice, throwing up drunk isn't.

Good luck and I hope this will be your last ugly hangover!

in order to AVOID the hangover next time:

-drink LESS. obviously enough, the more you drink, the worse it will be.
-drink water BETWEEN DRINKS. alcohol dehydrates you. continuing to drink water as you drink alcohol will lessen the effects.
-BEFORE BED, drink at LEAST 1 liter of water, and eat something bready. a slice of toast, some crackers, anything. some people will suggest you take an advil or something else, but it is very bad for your stomach to mix pills with alcohol.

to HELP your hangover now:

-drink WATER. (or gatorade, if you can get it. you need to replenish nutrients lost from vomiting.) you are dehydrated. this causes your brain to literally SHRINK away from your skull. this can be helped by rehydrating with lots of water. even if you feel the urge to vomit, this will help, because you will be vomiting the water, instead of simply bile. often, the taste of bile alone is enough to trigger vomiting. also, the water will help fight the dry-heaves, which we all know are no fun.
-some studies suggest that vitamin B6 (and other B vitamins) MIGHT help hangovers.
-eat something when the urge to vomit has PASSED.
-smoke a bowl, if that's your thing. dont overdo it, because that WILL make your headache worse, and can bring on the spins. i promise.
-avoid the things that hurt. try laying in bed, in silence, with minimal light. you do not want pitch black, unless you are trying to sleep. anything that strains your eyes will make it worse. try to avoid reading, or watching TV, as these can put strain on your eyes, and make your head hurt.

good luck!

You do not need to go to the doctors. The reason you feel like this is a)Low blood sugar
b)Dehydration
You must drink lots of water/fruit juice or lemonade. You need to increas your vitamin c.as well
.Fresh orange jucie is great as it increases your sugar intake too. And some simple pain killers like Paracetamol,,,,do not exceed 2 at a time or 8 in 24 hours.
If your tummy is realy sore you could buy some Ranitadine or Omeprazole from the chemist.
Once things settle down try to eat something.....Something you like and thats easy to digest.
Hope you feel better soon.

You sound exactly like how I was last Sunday! If you have poisoning you'd probably be unconscious by now so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

Take sips of water, don't gulp. Rest and eat a little later on. Find something decent on TV and take your mind off it. Get lots of sleep in, but keep taking in water - that's the most important thing, but do it slowly in order not to freak your body out anymore.

Drink plenty of water even if you throw up, some will get to stay down and mark this one down to experience. Next time you go out on a bender make sure you have bought some Milk Thistle tablets. You get these from a health food shop, follow instructions. I was told of these last christmas and had a hangover free festive time. They are brillient!

Yep -- you have a hangover from hell. Keep drinking lots of water or Gatorade. Your body needs the fluids, so drink it slowly and try to keep it down. Take ibuprofen to get rid of the headache, and go back to sleep if you can. Dry heaves are the worst, aren't they? I feel for you.

Take some Tylenol or Motrin. Try to keep little sips of water down and wait it out. You'll feel better tomorrow. You probably have a case of alcohol poisoning. The doctor can't do anything for you. It just has to leave your system.

Lots of water, salt and vitamin B. So basically have a fry up and a banana and you should feel better. Lucazade Hydro Active is also very good as it fights dehydration which is basically what a hangover is.

Drinking water is not good. You're supposed to do that before you go to bed. It doesn't work for a hangover.

I find the best hangover cure is a Bloody Mary.
