Irvine Welsh is a great Scot, born and bred in edinburgh and hasnt lost his roots or become pretentious. His books are from the heart...life experiences and how to deal with them...however bizarre some of them are!
I love his books...if you can get away with trying to read in native edinburgh :)

He's not bad. He's never going to be able to top Trainspotting, though.
Reading his books was quite a challenge at first - I had to mouth everything to myself to understand what they were saying. Now I'm pretty fluent in working-class Glaswegian :D

I don't know him personally, but I liked his books Trainspotting, Porno and Acid House. Haven't read any of his other work though

Yes. The best book I read by him (that some git called Keith has never returned to me after 8 years; BAD MAN) is called Marabou Stork Nightmares. It's a bit different from his other stuff in a way; I found it much more disturbing.

i'm Scottish and located it consumer-friendly to examine. I plenty favored the e book to the action picture. My mind's eye enable me pass as faras my abdomen could enable. The action picture went somewhat too a techniques. in case you enjoyed this e book by ability of Welsh, why no longer attempt maribou Stork Nightmares or grime?

I really like his work, although I find it quite hard to read when he writes in dialect. I can't stop myself doing a ridiculous Sean Connery scottish accent in my head as I read. :-)
